TSA CBA Terminated

Yes we should have negotiated. Full stop.

Sadly the accident at DCA would have only strengthened our negotiations and we likely would have got whatever we asked for.

The issue is Nick would have only asked for more equipment and fucked us on pay cause our union is an embarrassment to every labor union to exist.

Even if the accident doesn't happen we had and still have significant bargaining power in what our day to day job will entails. We are not normal government employees that can be fired because DOGE says so.
Did you not read the EO? Specifically this part:

The Secretary of Transportation is therefore delegated authority under section 7103(b) of title 5, United States Code, to issue orders excluding any subdivision of the Department of Transportation, including the Federal Aviation Administration, from Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute coverage...

Yeah definitely should have negotiated with them!

Anything negotiated would be just as vulnerable to dissolution. Apart from the basic principle, wasting time and resources negotiating would have been foolish.

Many of you can dream of this government agreeing with you and making it rain money on a beleaguered ATC career field, but that’s delusional and not in the cards.

Also, I read this EO as the governmental version of this:

HAhahahaha!

Not to agree/disagree about negotiations, but I hope everyone realizes that firing us isn't really the issue we're facing... the issue is the squeeze. That's what corps (people like Musk) are doing to employees and customers alike: they ask themselves 'how do we squeeze as much out of them as possible without completely breaking them'.

Not to say it's likely, but we'd much sooner have our pay trimmed than be fired. Since most of us gave up the opportunity to develop other skills in different trades or to seek higher education --- so that we could do this job--- most of us are not in a position of "fuck you" if they make things worse for us.

This is precisely why the agency doesn’t give a fiddler’s fuck about movement. We are all a number and the agency knows this job is all a lot of us have and they constantly leverage that against us in several ways.

I mean I'm open to better solutions but watching the government strip our contract, that NATCA said by not negotiating they were protecting, leaves me with the attitude that we should have negotiated higher pay as that's something it seems like they won't touch when it comes to us
They negotiated higher pay by extending the contract

I just don’t get how you can look at what happened yesterday and be like “yeah that guy is gonna be give me a raise!”

They already gave academy students a raise. It’s gonna come with big strings tho.
Forgive me if I’m not convinced by the small raise given to academy students which doesn’t translate to their facility if they pass. It was just a half measure to make it look like they were tying after the DCA crash.

I’d love to be wrong in all this but where is the evidence that this administration would give us anything? Trumps literal number 1 priority since taking office has been fucking federal employees as hard as he can for as long as possible. Guys we are federal employees, we aren’t special.

Edit: forgot to put “not” before convinced in the first sentence.

They are going to totally restrict the FAA and split the ATO and turn us against NATCA. NATCA will lose all solidarity for like 10K or less
