Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Just got done with my medical. Passed everything except the color vision. The doctor said something about a waiver and I've heard of the ATCOV, but he said I shouldn't worry. Ugh. Off to the drug test now.

Just got a TOL from this bid, even though I have one from the N90 bid. I'm considering whether I should drop the other one for the chance to get into a class faster, as the N90 classes have pretty much been booked for the rest of the year. Can anyone tell me what dates people have gotten class dates for so far?

Congrats! Most of us are waiting for our medical appointments and/or have finished submitting the sf86 in this bid. No one has a class date yet from what I know of.

So for the SF87 fingerprints just print two copies on regular, white paper? They gave no details on card stock paper.

I printed my copies on just regular printer paper and I took them to my PD. They said the ink will go right through and gave me the FD-258 cards to use. Just had to pay for the fingerprinting fees.

Thanks. What's the general distribution of enroute vs terminal TOLs so far?

You get whichever class is available next, or whatever they need filled. If you happen to be ready at a time in which both are available perhaps they will let you pick, but I wouldn't bank on it.

My TOL did not specify Enroute vs Terminal. Did yours?

I've only received an email advising me to make a choice between the N90 bid and this new one, so I haven't actually received the TOL yet. I assumed that you'd find out once you get the TOL, but guess not. When did the first wave of TOLs come out? It only took people in my bid a month or so to finish clearances and start getting FOLs. One of the reasons why i'm considering this bid is because while I was taking my ATCOV last week, someone from HR told me that they're trying to get people into classes very quickly, starting around April.

My TOL came out right before the shutdown. As did most of us I think. Some received them today.
And mine didn't indicate Enroute vs Terminal either. It said "To be determined after fully cleared & based on next available class."

Congrats on the TOL's everyone! Glad to hear they still have some to hand out. Just a bit of information since people were discussing employers and previous employers receiving the questionnaires and the timeline on that; my current employer and one of my past employers received a questionnaire in the mail today. I submitted my e-qip last week.

Edit: Just to give some insight in case some may not know what is on them the questions were asking to verify the employment you submitted on the e-qip, then asking things like if they would re-hire you; if they think you are fit for a security clearance with the government; any adverse things about your employment (with them i'm assuming?).

Any recommendations on whether I should stick with the N90 bid or this one? I do prefer to stay close to home, but I'll mist likely have the chance to pick N90 anyways from this bid.

I think I read somewhere that someone didn't like their facility and asked if they could get N90 and ended up getting it. No guarantees though obviously.

Dang that was fast lol, my boss is probably gonna be very surprised if he gets that. I've kept this as quiet as possible

I agree, didn't think they would send those out so fast! I was keeping it on the DL at my work as well, but I just told my boss just so she isn't surprised when she gets that questionnaire.

And congrats to all that are getting their TOL's today!

More info to the above here:

I thought that the questionnaire they received might have just been from my security POC to kind of square things away before submitting it to OPM, but it was sent from OPM as an "investigative request". So i'm assuming it might have asked to arrange a meeting of some type at some point as well, but i'm not sure entirely.

Edit: One of my best friends who I listed as a reference also got one. This is either moving fast or they think i'm some sort of potential scum lol.

Same here. I didn't want to be targeted for BS. I work for a fortune 500

This.. worst case scenario in my head is that they take it as a sign to hire your replacement expecting you to be gone in a month or so.. then it takes you 10+ months to get a class date.

Just received my TOL today. At what point are they sending this questionnaire to current employers? Is this after the CIL is received or is my employer going to be getting something like, tomorrow..

If you select your N90 TOL you'll likely not be at the Academy before the summer. Even then when you get to N90 you'll have YEARS of training backlog to wade through (on AG pay) with a very low chance of success. If you take your OTS TOL you will not be offered N90. If you get terminal you will go to a level 7 or below, potentially complete training before you would ever even start training at N90. I'd say take the OTS TOL, pass the Academy and start somewhere smaller. If you really want to work at N90 they'll be hiring people forever.

Not until they begin your background investigation... which requires you to submit additional forms.

It's sometime after you submit your e-qip for the security clearance portion. No real idea on a timeline. My scenario might be an outlier.
