NCEPT debate thread

Why would they? That’s not an NCEPT function. Those people NESTed back so don’t count for NCEPT numbers
But if they're only looking at the numbers nationally then 179 out of 1289 would imply they removed 1100 controllers and are then trainees but they're not all trainees currently. More than 179 are CPCs in the NAS

Straight from the KSN. 190 certifications so far. 130 unsuccessful. those are some high percentages of unsuccessful trainees with more to come one would assume.

I saw a stat from a NATCA regional update: since the start of NCEPT there have been 1289 movements and the process has produced 179 CPC’s.

Of course, there are many factors to this but that still seems crazy to me.

I’ll be pretty upset if they only do panel’s every 6 months. I feel like they need to cap the amount of people training at facilities. It seemed like LAX would get a lot of people which is great. But you’d also have a lot of people who could be working at their facilities they came from instead of sitting around for a year waiting for a class date. Why not just sit tight until they can get you a class?

I question that because I transferred on the 8/2017 panel and I’m certified at my new facility. The number says zero though.

Correction the 8/2018

One of the things they're looking at in regards to training is also prioritizing it. So at least now they're looking at how to reduce some training times.

This is exactly right, people taking huge leaps to places they usually don’t truly want to go to but take a shot at it as it’s their only way out.

EXACTLY. I don’t know why people are surprised at these numbers. It was all predictable. If you make it so the only way for people to get out of their current position/facility is to go anywhere (chasing the top 10 facilities in the priority list) then they’re guna do just that. People would rather “see what happens” and take their chances then to sit and wait for a chance to maybe go somewhere they actually wana go. I know a couple of people who intentionally put in for those high need facilities with the plan to make money for a while and “train” and then withdraw from training to get a NEST list just so they would get a big list to rank because anything else is potentially better than where they’re currently at. I don’t think people should just be able to withdraw without some sort of penalty... they wasted everyone’s time and helped screw up an already screwed up system. It’s annoying, but not surprising at all.

Honestly I'm prepared for a level cap and a panel every 6 months. It can't be worse than that right?

IMO if they make the decisions more arbitrary than they currently are (anything more than a ranking list) that is a disaster that undermines NCEPT. Pre NCEPT it was 100% politics, and that seems to be the natural way they're drifting. "Give facilities more power to select who they get", etc. I think of they can flip the script and change the rules at the actual NCEPT selection panel... Anything is possible. It could get far far worse. They may nix the whole thing, or extend the moratorium until national staffing % gets higher; in line w this new "Give OT" initiative from ol' Teri Bristol.

Where do they post the minutes (if at all). On the NCPET Public page the last minutes aren't even close to current

Looks like they got lazy and/or stopped doing that. I doubt these minutes would be posted regardless, this is a meeting to review the process itself not the routine bi-monthly panel stuff they seemed happy to post.
