Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Nobody really screwed them.... regardless of how many pool 1 got accepted, they can still only do the 10% rule. So whether there were more pool 1 applicants or not, it'd still be similar

This is a good point. It could happen the other way around too. You could have 1000 best qualified Pool 1, but if the best qualified for pool 2 is 250, you’re now limited to hiring only 1/4 of the pool 1 best qualified. Works both ways, not in anyone’s favor lol

After a tense waiting period thinking my security clearance was gonna be denied, I was finally offered a class date. Enroute, July 18th, but I asked for something later and was given July 31st instead.

Hoping to appeal for something even later due to personal obligations, but if the appeal is denied I'll happily be there at the end of July.
Yayyyy, finally someone else in my class.

Who all finished their CIL requirements and hasn't heard a word back? There's got to be a few of us on here. I finished all in February and don't know whether or not I passed MMPI
Still waiting here.

Finished everything in February. Medical did specifically let me know that I passed MMPI in mid-march (I asked them). Got confirmation that they at least do have my records at the end of April. And my medical stuff has been sitting on the FS desk for....sometime. who knows how long.

They must be filling classes more quickly now cuz they only gave me 2 weeks for the 1st date I was offered.

To lay it out, they took all 240 "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 1 (Vets/CTI), meaning they could only take ~260 "best-qualified" from Pool 2. That left ~780 "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 2 that were not hired. Basically the 10% rule and the lack of "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 1 screwed the FAA's hiring plan. CTI and Vets need to do better on the ATSA.
Doesn't necessarily mean that CTI and Vets didn't do good on the ATSA more so this year than previous years, could also be that not enough of them applied compared to OTS applicants. This bid was posted heavily on reddit/other sources, which created an environment where significantly more OTS candidates applied than previous years.

what's your story?

Much to my surprise, i received a FOL on Wednesday the 22nd! My date is July 11th and is an en route class!

I honestly didn’t expect it to happen so quickly after they requested follow up files on my lasik enhancement. I figured it would be at least a week or two before I heard anything at all.

I don’t have my timeline memorized, but here is what I do remember...

TOL 12/21
CIL 2/12
I think fingerprints and equip were completed by 2/18 or 2/19
MMPI 2/21
Medical 3/7
FOL 5/22
En route class 7/11

Oh, and my region is SW, and POC is CG.

Got a response from my medical POC just saying they are waiting for the flight surgeon, completed everything early march. Does this mean I most likely passed the MMPI-2? Would be a huge relief if that's the case to know

I’ve heard of it going both ways, I never had an answer on my MMPI, but apparently I passed. ?‍♂️

Others I’ve seen have also not heard anything and then suddenly they were notified that they failed. It’s a weird thing for sure.

I know no response is always up in the air, was just wondering since she said it was just on the FS so I can't help but hope that it means the MMPI is good. Though I imagine I'm still a bit away from an FOL since I'm assuming you're in CO and just got yours and completed everything 2 weeks before me.

TX area actually, but I sat in this thread and watched people get the second round of TOL’s and got their offers waaaaaay before I did. You never know, if it helps any, I felt the same way you did about passing. They say no news is good news. But it’s still stressful beyond belief.

what's your story?

I had some bad marks on my credit report. I'd been working on paying a few small ones off, but there was still a collection for about $2k on there. Security POC contacted me twice asking about it, as well as a lengthy phone interview with an investigator. All three times I explained my payment plan, but I thought for sure the 405 number calling me was to tell me I was declined, as I've heard the number one reason for being declined was credit.

Was happily surprised today. Some guy (not my POC) called, and was able to push my date back a few weeks for me. I've decided to just go for it and not request a later date.

Is it only collections that they find negative not actual debt?

I have 10,000 in private student loan that went delinquent a few years ago. It got sold off and i negotiated a settlement. If i disclose this, would it still slow down my clearance?

If you don't, you risk being disqualified.

wrote it poorly, I will absolutely disclose it. I was just wondering if it slowed anyone down

Your ATSA score is good for 3 years. If you find out you tested in the "well-qualified" band then you can have your score carry over.

Who knows. We didn't know the Bio-Q would be taken out until a few days before the bid was released.

you mean 'best qualified'. 'well' qualified is below 'best' and above 'qualified'

The only things they cared about with me were things that were delinquent and had a balance. As long as that loan shows a $0 balance and you have records of it, you're good. And if it doesn't, disclose it. They'll find it and they'll have an investigator call and grill you for 3 hours. They're pretty thorough and will find anything you don't disclose.
