Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

This probably explains why the original pre shutdown plan was to send another OTS bid out around January.
Yeah I think it says the shutdown really messed up their hiring plan for this year. Try to get another 200 or so per Pool before the June bid

Also, if anyone has any recommendations on housing, or advice to share, it would be very welcomed. Thanks guys!

Does anyone know what the schedule is for the week? Is it just Mon - Fri? or Weekends too?

Academy schedule is Mon-Fri. You have weekends off. Days and nights will rotate based on your class' schedule. You won't know until you get to class.
For housing, I would look into Kim's Place or Anatole. I've only heard bad things about I.B. and even had a classmate move out from IB to Anatole in the middle of basics.

Has anyone who got an email last Monday from Hope heard anything else? I emailed her back ten mins after getting her message and heard nothing back.
Depending on which email you received from her you may not hear back from her for 1-2 weeks. She is not the type to send "thanks, i received your response" emails. It is aggravating not knowing whether she actually received anything or not, but you just have to wait with her. And don't bother emailing her because, as she states in her emails, she will absolutely not respond to anything unless it's in response to an original request from her.

Do you mind if I ask when you took the MMPI-2, when you were notified you were tier II'd and how long it took for hope to email you/what the email entailed? I'm expecting to be tier II'd.

“I haven't seen this posted here yet, but... From the 2019 Workforce plan...

"In July 2018, the FAA posted an announcement that yielded only 240 well-qualified applicants from the CTI/veteran pool. That was a substantial drop from the 611 applicants that were selected from a similar announcement in FY 2017. Because of the 10 percent balancing requirement between the pools, FAA was only able to select 264 applicants from the general public pool, and FAA was not able to pursue 783 otherwise well-qualified candidates from that pool. If this trend continues, this will have a major impact on the FAA’s ability to hire enough controllers to meet its operational needs."

I believe they only offered it to the "Best Qualified" category.

Perhaps they took 240 from pool 1 including best and well qualified, and only had to take pool 2 best qualified because it didn't reach into well-qualified with so limited applicants taken from pool 2- leaving the remaining best qualified and entire well qualified band.

To lay it out, they took all 240 "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 1 (Vets/CTI), meaning they could only take ~260 "best-qualified" from Pool 2. That left ~780 "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 2 that were not hired. Basically the 10% rule and the lack of "best-qualified" candidates from Pool 1 screwed the FAA's hiring plan. CTI and Vets need to do better on the ATSA.

How are they going to handle the rollover of Best Qualified candidates on top of this years bid?

Probably much like they did with the ~70ish CTI from Pool 1 from the 2017 bid that were "best-qualified" and not offered a TOL. They won't be told a damn thing and will have their "referred" status changed to "not hired" a few weeks before the next bid. It sucks, but welcome to the FAA.

Rumor has been that people have been able to email FAA Careers and request where they fell in the ATSA bands. I would recommend getting the study prep software. Good to get familiar and practice. ATCPrep.com™ - Preparation Suite for Air Traffic Controller Selection (ATSA and AT-SAT)

Nobody really screwed them.... regardless of how many pool 1 got accepted, they can still only do the 10% rule. So whether there were more pool 1 applicants or not, it'd still be similar

Roger that. And if you tested in the top band just ask for the score to carry over? and the 2017 bid had more TOL for Pool 1 than 2?

So are we assuming the application process will be the same this time around? If I recall correctly this bid was considered "special" because it did away with the Bio-Q (or whatever it was called) and allowed any applicants that met the job requirements to reach the ATSA stage. Was this just a trial run or is it the new standard for OTS bids?

Your ATSA score is good for 3 years. If you find out you tested in the "well-qualified" band then you can have your score carry over.

Who knows. We didn't know the Bio-Q would be taken out until a few days before the bid was released.

Who all finished their CIL requirements and hasn't heard a word back? There's got to be a few of us on here. I finished all in February and don't know whether or not I passed MMPI

After a tense waiting period thinking my security clearance was gonna be denied, I was finally offered a class date. Enroute, July 18th, but I asked for something later and was given July 31st instead.

Hoping to appeal for something even later due to personal obligations, but if the appeal is denied I'll happily be there at the end of July.
