Idk what NTD ops are like, but I have seen people with experience at places busier than Luke get assigned shittier and lower level places than MAF so don't feel bad. I think the FAA is just placing people where they need them and experience plays a small role in their decision making. Where did you rank MAF on your list?

Agree! I've got buddies from Luke at lvl 12's and some went to 5's. All that matters is where they need warm blood.

100% all where the empty chair is they need filled. I have 11 years with Pope, Nellis, Shaw, Osan and Tyndall and I got my #5 choice which is a lvl 5. Not sure how it's figured especially when your #1 pick you wanted shows up on the next 2 lists lol.

I only know one person who has turned down their placement. He has a good job lined up and him and his family didn't like the location so he decided to decline and wait for the next bid which luckily for him was in May and he applied.

I declined the timing + location didn’t work out. I asked for an extension and the ATO said I signed something saying I would be available by August 6th. Don’t remember that but I’ll just wait to see what happens with the May bid

That’s pretty shitty on the extension. A lot can change in the course of 6 months and for them to flat out not give a fuck sucks. Best of luck.

I know quite a bit of DOD controllers that have turned down a couple of lists just to get their "dream" facility or end up backing out because the pay cut is too big.

Speaking from my experience: I got my list on May 2nd got offered an airport on May 9th. On May 9th they offered me 3 start dates the earliest date being June 9th.
