I had this same issue. I actually never realized how much of a difference eyewear made on me until they made me do the exam at the AME with and without glasses. I was able to read the smallest line no problem with glasses, but without them I could barely read the 20/20 line with one eye and and 20/30 line with the other.
They'll send the letter to your previous supervisor from four months ago. They generally contact a handful of your references, not just one.
I should have been more clear. Aside from the job I started in October, I had been happily unemployed for three years. Would they contact my employer from three years ago? If so I might stop in and tell them, maybe then they'll quit asking me to come work for them again.

How'd your application get in without any recent work history?
I don't know their case, but I applied with just my 4 years of college. Was a wildlife biologist that only worked field seasons for a few years and the last 2.5 years have been "self employed" while traveling the world (I made enough to travel through the stock market, but definitely not a "living wage"). My resume I used didn't mention anything for the last 2.5 years. Figured it'd just be easier to apply with just my degree, and it all worked out.
There are no stipulations about recent work history except for not being fired or quiting under threat of being fired more than once in the last three years.
In my application I submitted I was unemployed for a certain amount of time but I was also a college student. (I just didnt work during a semester).
I'm assuming you received a TOL and had done the eqip. I've been seeing once you submit the eqip you cant go back into it. Best way to find out is to ask your Security POC who you put down as a reference.

Sounds like that's what everyone is calling the CIL in another forum. I've received, and returned the TOL and am currently waiting as fast as I can for anything else
No the CIL is the letter that tells you about the equip, medical, etc. Equip is the online version of the SF86
Oh i hear you, the FAQ is very helpful, and I've read various links there a number of times. I just checked back quickly and I swear it doesn't mention EQIP in it.
