Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ALLSRCE-61676

Yes, I knew as soon as I got a TOL that I would have to see an optometrist. Went to Target Optical, and I got a contact for my one eye that had an astigmatism.
I had this same issue. I actually never realized how much of a difference eyewear made on me until they made me do the exam at the AME with and without glasses. I was able to read the smallest line no problem with glasses, but without them I could barely read the 20/20 line with one eye and and 20/30 line with the other.

Yep, I knew my right eye wasn't very good, but it's crazy how clear everything is when you get the right prescription. My left eye is not perfect, but I had my optometrist test me on 20/20 several times and I could always pass it. Somehow, at the medical, I read the 20/15 line with both eyes, so I passed with flying colors in the end 😛

Does anyone know when it comes to the facility you go to after graduating if they take into account you being a military spouse? My husband has 4 years remaining and I didn’t know if it is at all possible to get a facility near where he is stationed? I figured there is not but thought I would ask, see if anyone has been in a similar situation.

They do, they will contact HR and whoever you list as your supervisor on e-QIP.

Edit: Sorry, I missed the word "when" when I first read this. I saw the letter come in for my supervisor, and it was 13 days after I submitted my e-QIP.

So I was happily unemployed when I applied, and remained that way for another four months. In theory, they have no idea I'm currently employed and won't send the previously mentioned letter to anyone, in my case... Is that how anyone else would interpret that situation?

They'll send the letter to your previous supervisor from four months ago. They generally contact a handful of your references, not just one.

I should have been more clear. Aside from the job I started in October, I had been happily unemployed for three years. Would they contact my employer from three years ago? If so I might stop in and tell them, maybe then they'll quit asking me to come work for them again.

Me and my wife are in the SAME boat as you. My situation veries just a little.
She got hired this bid and has a class date January 9th. I'm Active Duty Air Force and stationed overseas in Guam. I don't get to PCS from Guam until Oct 2020. Then I can't get out until Oct 2022 (will put at 14 years in). She will get her assignment first week of May for Enroute. I won't get to see my assignment preferences until April and my Orders will drop in May to leave in October. It's going to suck and be difficult but we agreed the sacrifice is totally worth it in the end. I'll get out and go Guard or Reserve and use my GI bill to finish my ratings to get my commercial, CFI and ATP done!

How'd your application get in without any recent work history?

I don't know their case, but I applied with just my 4 years of college. Was a wildlife biologist that only worked field seasons for a few years and the last 2.5 years have been "self employed" while traveling the world (I made enough to travel through the stock market, but definitely not a "living wage"). My resume I used didn't mention anything for the last 2.5 years. Figured it'd just be easier to apply with just my degree, and it all worked out.

There are no stipulations about recent work history except for not being fired or quiting under threat of being fired more than once in the last three years.

Education/work requirements are three years of work, or four years of college. No particular time frame required. I have four years of college and 8 years of work history. Six of those years were full time work. I more than meet the minimum requirements.

In my application I submitted I was unemployed for a certain amount of time but I was also a college student. (I just didnt work during a semester).
Whoever you put down as a reference for your unemployment period, OPM will send a letter to that person to verify your unemployment.

Is there a way to discover what name I put down there? I barely remember anything about the application. I was in some random town using Starbucks WiFi in the middle of a very long road trip when I applied.

I'm assuming you received a TOL and had done the eqip. I've been seeing once you submit the eqip you cant go back into it. Best way to find out is to ask your Security POC who you put down as a reference.

Where are you at in the application process?

Eqip stands for electronic questionnaires for investigations processing... it's part of the security portion....
Sounds like that's what everyone is calling the CIL in another forum. I've received, and returned the TOL and am currently waiting as fast as I can for anything else

No the CIL is the letter that tells you about the equip, medical, etc. Equip is the online version of the SF86

FAQ

I know a lot of people have already pointed this out but this is a wonderful resource for finding out information about the general process and what happens along each step. I would also encourage you to read back to ~page 80 and so forth from this forum if you want to learn what the hiring process looks like; that is when TOLs started going out for Pool2. I will admit that following this forum daily for the last month has answered just about every question I have had since starting this process. There are a lot of VERY well informed people on this website.

Oh i hear you, the FAQ is very helpful, and I've read various links there a number of times. I just checked back quickly and I swear it doesn't mention EQIP in it.

I feel like it would be extremely helpful to have a "what is this initialism" section of the FAQ. It might even act as a directory of sorts.

Eqip: part of the CIL you get after your TOL. your HR POC will send it out ASAP along with your EOD information and what you need to schedule your MMPI-2 something something FOL, SF63, SF42, SF50, SFHIKE, SFTOUCHDOWN!

I realise these initialisms are like a second language to some of you; however other's like me can't stop thinking explosives ordnance disposal when we see EOD.
