They terminated my training Nov 5th. I had 3 R sides at a level 12. My list was 30 facilities; 2 lvl 8 TRACON and the rest 7 and below towers and up/downs
3 R sides has you at what there? D2? D3?

That’s unusual that you make it that far at a center and don’t finish. Did you hit a wall in performance or was it a personality thing?3 R sides has you at what there? D2? D3?

Trust me, we are pretty shocked as well. No one at my facility has heard of someone in my situation. I think it was a mixture of performance and personality; personality in the beginning then performance at the end. I had several trainers remove themselves from my training team, one trainer (whom I clicked very well with and he actually recommended certification on this sector) retired and I had to change trainers again. I had been requesting a crew change from my union reps (and TRB) for several months and they kept saying it would show favoritism. Since they wouldnt let me move crews to line up with my new training team that they had assigned, I was coming in on an RDO to work credit and get one more training day. Then summer hit and since I had sectors under my belt I was on 6 day work weeks like all of the CPCs. Some trainees under me made CPC which made a hole on the crew I was trying to move to and they finally let me move with 10 days left on my extension. Once I got to my new crew I made drastic improvements, the light bulb came on. I was so ready and felt comfortable, then 2 days before the end of my extension I think the pressure just got to me. I'd been training on this sector for almost 11 months and I was pretty sure that I wouldn't be granted a 3rd extension. I made some dumb day-1 mistakes that my trainers and sup just could not look past. The 3 sectors I was certified on were 2 lows and an ultra high. This was my first high sector (and honestly one of the most complex sectors in our building) and I think I just needed more time to handle that level of traffic. I came out of the academy straight to a 12, but I think later down the road with more experience i could make it at a 12, it was just too much right out the gate for me.
If you are a new hire with 0 certs then you better not wash or withdraw because from what i hear now the FAA is leaning towards not retaining them.
oh yes absolutely. I could have easily pointed fingers and played the victim, I just don't see how that's productive. No one owes me a damn thing and I've (hopefully) got a long career ahead of me, best not start off on a bad foot. I fully accept responsibility and I cant stand when people come into this agency thinking they're entitled to anything.
did you make your selections already?Any one know how long it normally takes to know where we will be going?
Probably a couple weeks, they have people make selections based on the order in which their training was terminated I believe, then do people who withdrew at the end. If your training was terminated near the end of this NEST cycle, people in front of you are probably still picking and you should be up soon.Any one know how long it normally takes to know where we will be going?
Thanks. How long did they give you to move? I know its obviously different for every situation but just trying to get a rough timeframe.did you make your selections already?
i was in the nov panel. got my listnov 27.
turned it in following monday dec 2.
found out dec 30 where i was going.
my results are probably different due to the holidays.
It will depend, if you washed from a center and are going to a tower for example, they might assign you a hard date to leave since you have to go to a OKC class. If you don’t have to go back to OKC you will probably have a good amount of flexibility negotiating a move date.Thanks. How long did they give you to move? My training was suspended the end of November, got my list a week ago and turned it in last Wednesday.
Just a general idea, if they send out TOLs in order of when your training was terminated- My training was terminated Nov 5th and I still have not gotten a TOL. My ATM said it may be a few more weeks, as TOLs are coming from HR and they are currently shut down right now trying to process SF50s for the presidential pay raises, so we may have a longer wait than previous panels.
I worked at FXE, busy level 7 tower but the traffic is fun. 24 hour facilityACK AGC APC BED DAY EMT FXE LNK PAO POU PUB SMF YIP
Worked there for 3 years from 2015-2018. Not easy place at allJust what my buddy told me. It gets pretty busy as would any lvl 7 vfr tower.
Southern FL, congrats, you won the NEST lottery! Get ready though the place is hard, probably harder then where you washed from just in different ways. But if you make it, the FAA will be your oyster you can transfer out soon or keep your talent in south beach the rest of your career.Got notification from my ATM just now, Ive been assigned FXE
