So Philly is going to work their airspace, to get pushed back up to a level 12. N90 EWR CPCs are going to stay at N90, go to other areas, and still stay a level 12. I’m sure Liberty is going to LOVE getting screwed over by Philly controllers! LOL

I asked, we should have the option to go to PHL. If they make me train in another N90 area I’m going to wash and go to the nest.

But this is probably years away. My guess is that when PHL builds a new tower/Tracon they’ll make room for us, as they don’t have it now. But the new tower was put on indef hold because of Covid.

I did a bunch of cost of living comparisons and a rough estimate of what I would make in PHL. To maintain the same standard of living in the PHL/ILG area, I would need to make $20-30k less than what my salary would be. Anyone who would stay on Long Island to get bigger checks without considering what those checks can get you is a fool. And no point counting the 25% CIP because that expires next year anyway.

Isn't that the hardest area in N90? With that gone it is now a country club facility for sure, make 300K a year with the toughest challenge off the board #bestjobintheworld

Ain’t making $300k without overtime. Who knows when that is coming back. Our traffic is still completely dead.

Yeah, the unfortunate thing is every time it has come to a “vote,” N90 “votes” to stay versus moving off island. Plus, LI doesn’t want to see any part of N90 move. Tax money baby! Philly would be a much better quality of life, but established controllers won’t want to move off LI.

if they put it to a vote today, it would be pretty close. Almost all the young guys are for it and some of the older guys too. Most of the “LI or die” folks retired or are about to retire. (Seriously, 3 of them are putting their paperwork in the day normal schedules come back)

So..
Put in an ERR to N90 now, with the intent to wash and NEST gamble out? As good as a time to go that route than any, right?

You’d get sent back to where you came from. You need to:
-Transfer and receive $27K
-Hope to get assigned to EWR
-Certify and refuse to go to PHL (assuming that happens in the next few years) OR transfer, with full PCS to PHL, and then wash out of Philly
-THEN wash out of another reassigned sector to go to the NEST from N90 or wash from PHL

That’s because it is called gating criteria - and its on the FAA website — And has been for some time. I’d be more curious why NATCA is deciding to communicate about it 2 months later.

Why predict ? It’s published and has been for some time. Declining cases for 14 days, cases per million less than 80, hospital beds available, signs posted at facilities. Dont be fooled into thinking natca wanted or supports this. They’re being forced - trust me.

Can you link the gating info on the FAA site? Apparently I’m retarded and can’t find it ?.
