COS Question?

Has anyone requested (and got approved) for COS months prior to their leave date? I know people use COS usually to leave early or start a week later, but due to other reasons we would actually be moving into a place a few months prior to my start date at my facility and could use the time for the actual move.

In Article 29 it states up to 2 years from the effective date of change of post. Given that many people use it on the front end of them leaving the actual transfer date couldn’t be the set start timeframe right?i just want to get my shit straight before I ask for it..

Haven’t seen it, but it doesn’t state that it has to be in conjunction with the release date. I always use it before my release date so I’m ready to jump into class/training. Put in for it and show him where it says “shall be approved” in the CBA. I had to fight an ATM up to the district level to get it approved “on his watch”. He buckled pretty quick after that.

I've also seen people use it a year after they arrived at said facility but just be careful because i've found it becomes harder and harder to use as the transfer gets farther away.

I actually went back to read it and I do see the shall part so that’s good to know. I have one of those talk first before I research managers.

i eventually lost some because it just got hard to use. management and natca were one in the same and i didn't feel like fighting the battle. my honest suggestion to anyone is just use it up within a few months of your transfer. people just ask questions as it gets farther away and it's not worth it imho.

I read somewhere (possibly on here) a while back that enroute controllers get a top secret clearance because they talk to Air Force one, among other reasons I’m sure. But who talks to Air Force one in a tracon or atct?

En route gets a secret clearance. I think tower gets it now too.

the "I have some boxes to move" excuse doens't really work after 2 years. maybe at bigger facilities it would work, but it seems like the little ones everyone is in everyones business and they'd jsut call BS. I dunno. who knows these days if natca fights for trainees...

I had a couple days a year in and I just requested them in web sched and it was approved. But I was a bitch ass useless a side
