Training hold

Ya let’s keep all the trainees home unless the county the facility is in has less than 0.0009% of people positive for Covid for two straight weeks. The facilities seem to be doing just fine not infecting themselves, oh wait..

We have to have emails every month reminding everyone to wear a damn mask. Why can’t we do what every other business is doing? Temp and symptom checks before you go to work, actual punishments for not wearing a mask, etc. ACTUAL PREVENTATIVE MEASURES. Instead, we’ll spend millions of dollars on level three cleanings days after a positive case.

I’m not saying “bring all the trainees back” is the answer, but clearly something needs to change on how we’re handling this going forward.
They don’t need to bring all the trainees back, just me

Well, boys...hope you’re not drinking away your income during this “free vacation.” According to my FACREP and RVP, if COVID doesn’t improve by January or February, they’re going to begin more serious furlough talks. My facility & NATCA aren’t going to budge off of the Harvard map MOU in favor of a different plan to get trainees back either, regardless of vaccinations or negative testing within the facility. They’re still saying it’s the FAA that doesn’t want us back, but it’s also the FAA that doesn’t want to pay us to sit at home.
I’m not the first one to say it, but I’m in a different region than the other person in the PNW that received the same info.
Weird that the FAA wants people in the academy yet the BUEs aren’t allowed to train. Maybe quit NATCA?

Does anyone know if there have been any in-facility transmissions? Or does NATCA not want that information getting out?

8 Months later, and its still harder to get into a Casino on the Vegas Strip than an FAA facility.

Its almost like a complete lack of any leadership, starting at the very top, is making it hard to respond to this crisis. Were worse off than March, and to me it seems NATCA/FAA on this coast are both just throwing their hands up and saying F it, bring everyone back, under the guise of RIF talks that our National President say have not happened. Our FACREP is openly getting aggressive now to anyone complaining about being forced back to bidlines, "5/10, 5/5 was never for controller safety!!" is the new company line out here apparently.

And now you have all the MAGA blowhards openly refusing to wear a mask, and their MAGA brethren in management dont do anything about it.

We need leadership. A real plan. Instead we have a typical FAA system that is set up to reward those who dont want to do the right thing, and punish those who do. Its not hard to come up with something that makes you EA status. Just my take on it.

Natca would have nothing to do with this. The faa contact traces in facilities.

Only two people at my facility actually want to wear masks. As soon as they leave the operations area everyone’s masks come off and the majority of them are Dems. Nothing to do with MAGA.

It was never for controller safety. Hilarious. Cus the FAA was all about early shoves and EA when traffic was slow in years passed

I think the original reasoning was to keep the NAS running because facilities like MDW and LAS went down for almost a week when the first outbreaks hit. But now that we can just shut down for 2 hours and everything is magically fixed, they say fk it back to normal.

I would agree except we aren’t back to normal with this bizarre EA rules. It’s not the cleaning that’s the issue is that some places are sending people home in EA because possible exposure. Someone was exposed, oh ok you on EA but if you have symptoms you on sick. If you test positive the whole area/crew/tower is now on EA that was with you for only 15mins. The cleaning doesn’t even matter anymore, yes I think they should keep doing it but if the call everyone back they have to stop putting all these people on EA just because one person tested positive. You can’t run anywhere efficiently like that. Just like before COVId...you can’t force people on sick leave. People showed up with colds all the time and got people sick. It’s shitty yes but there is no way to “get back to normal” if you have no idea if you’re going to lose 1-10 people in a split second for 2 weeks because a simple phone call.

Biden just said there would be no national shutdown. So its going to be based on each state/county to control the spread of covid?

They always counted a side as certified on 1 position for gov shutdowns. Hey you can come back and get all the exposure. But no training!
