2025 Convention

I’m an old timer, and retired, so I know I’m seen as irrelevant, but I was a rabid union member from my first day to my last. Having said all that, today’s NATCA is a fucking disgrace. I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision because I wouldn’t want to be a part of this current group of weak backstabbing useless leeches.

Our union is supposed to be our voice, and speak on our behalf. Work to get us better pay, better benefits, better working conditions, and hold the agency accountable when they act against our interests. Why have they stayed silent throughout the entire split EWR from N90 to PHL process? Why did they abandon us on this very important fight? I understand that the rest of the country hates N90 but when NATCA can choose to abandon a facility they don’t like, they can do it again elsewhere. If the union won’t fight for us, what the fuck are they doing?

This is exactly right. I can't understand how some members here like Nothanks can't see this shit. Ive been a controller since 2008, I left the union recently because of almost all the reasons listed here, and leaving the FAA in a few weeks for australia.

Do people think this was a light hearted decision? Like 15 years didn't count? You've got 80+ % of the workforce being screwed / ignored and we are supposed to be happy about it and pay for the privilege?

Newark staffing, pay, ERRs, financial abuse of NEB members, etc and people still think NATCA matters? Maybe back in the day. Now its Stockholm syndrome. No one has been able to tell me, or any members that left, why to actually stay. All the same nonsense and platitudes about a voice or being a scab. Im sick to death of it.

You did it.

I had the same feelings. What IMPACT are my dues having? I left because what my dues are supporting...I whole heartedly believe FAAMA or congress would do better.
1-supported privitization in 2017.
2-subsidized Paul and Trish gofund me and retirement.
3-helped keep trainees quiet during covid so I could have a 5 10 while not helping people with vaccine exemptions.
4-I don't even have to think about moving, unless it's to Philly or Long Island
5-Initially left OUT of federal employment paid parental leave...LOL
6-PR team gets billboards at major venues (and then tickets to games and concerts to double check their work)
Your dues didn’t go into a go fund me

I get it all. Don’t worry. Enjoy Australia, you can be happy now

I tried that once...paying dues member. It didn't work. I know many dues paying members. It still doesn't work.
What didn’t work?

Do you think the Union had done a good job at representing the membership as a whole to the government and the public since DCA?
Doesn’t matter what I think. The loudest people here that can’t seem to answer anything I ask are non members that are just angry at the world. Someone’s gotta be their scapegoat I guess. People
Left the union and they come here to cry about it 🤣

The best part is when you say they can't seem to answer anything, you've been answered but your willful ignorance shows your just a troll or probably another union plant just screwing around.

You're a fallacy with an internet connection my friend.

Everything should be voted on with an electronic vote. Election, amendments, extensions. Its 2025, figure it the fuck out. We can blasts campaign emails to everyone but shit that actually matters we have to go to the convention?
It was voted on and handily defeated. Not even one delegate wanted to adopt it.

They could also Have the convention somewhere cheap, and without distractions. Grinnell Iowa is an hour from Des Moines and very central to everyone. If that isn’t amendable, there’s Topeka Kansas, or Springfield Missouri

After going, I see why they do it in bigger areas. For the members that go and use their own leave, it’s nice that they can make a vacation out of it by flying in earlier or staying later. I only flew in for the convention and left Sunday night and it seemed like a waste of leave. I see both sides of the electronic voting argument. I want every member to be represented and I think it’s a problem that some delegates don’t always vote for what their members want. If anyone thinks their facrep/delegate is not voting in their facility’s best interest, you need to vote them out and try to change the process if that’s what you believe is best.

It’s almost like there’s literally thousands of controllers unhappy with the union… crazy.
Nah. Just not patient enough for a raise.

Literally the same people voting for trump expecting some miracle to happen. Guy is attacking federal employees anywhere he can. That big raise you were all so happy about with TSA? Yea that contract is trash. Who knows what happens with them.
