FAA has so much going on right now. Scrambling with 3 or 4 bids, NCEPT and tons of other stuff. I would like to go spend a day at HR and just watch the madness. Anyone know how many employees they have per region roughly? The hiring process is probably the most ridiculous when it comes to wait times though.

What is the consensus at everyone's facilities? I know it's a free out if you get picked up, but is this lucrative to those in mid levels 8-9 who wanna move up but don't have the staffing? Maybe @Robertb has an idea of how many they're looking for? I'd assume somewhere near 41 minus whatever they picked up Sept NCEPT... Very interesting for sure...
Let's say 10 people come here from the last panel. I'd imagine that we select roughly 20 people on this special NCEPT. That way, we still have another 10 to select at the next panel, it isn't overwhelming the training department with new bodies and creating backlog, and staggering releases helps keep the training optimized.

Add in the fact the FAA office in ATL lost power due to hurricane Irma, they're definitely behind all around. TOL's starting to come out last panel on the Monday following the NCEPT.

Got a question. I got picked up on this NCEPT and we have another controller at my facility is who is most likely going to get picked up on a supe bid. Our ATM has already told both of us that he is going to be able to release 1 in March and the other in July. We are a Cat 1 (3 months) and I have told my ATM that I am OK with waiting until March (which it said we can choose to do instead of going before Dec 24th) because we do have a very interesting situation going on at our facility right now and they need the bodies as long as possible. Here's the question: if the other controller gets their TOL first for the supe job, am I SOL and have to wait until July even though it says I have to be release before March 18th? If our ATM files a deviation to keep me, is there a chance it could be successful?

Thanks!

Why would you take the chance of having your date pushed back even further than March? If you want to go, go as soon as possible.

I don't want it pushed back any further than March, but I also wanted to wait until after the new year, because that's what's best for my family and my manager asked if I could wait until at least March, which I said was OK. I was just wondering if a manager has ever successfully been able to keep a controller longer than the required release based on the facility's category.

NCEPT selection is also a snapshot in time. You were selected when your facility was Cat 1. This can't be taken away from you after the fact. It doesn't matter when the FLM was selected. ATM's have tried to file deviations in the past, all of them that go against the national release policy for CPC's have been denied.
