Exciting Air Traffic Control Opportunity with Advanced ATC and Serco
Advanced ATC, a leading provider of air traffic control training, has announced an exceptional partnership with Serco. This unique collaboration offers a select few individuals the chance to earn their Control Tower Operator (CTO) certification at no cost.
The 8-week program is an accelerated and intensive course designed to prepare participants for a rewarding career in air traffic control. The program carries an initial investment of $15,000, which will be fully reimbursed upon successful completion. This means that qualified individuals can earn their CTO certification without any financial burden.
Participants will receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus upon securing a job with Serco, a respected provider of air traffic control services. Additionally, after six months of proficiency and obtaining their CTO, they will receive an additional $10,000 tuition reimbursement, thus completely compensating the costs of the training.
This unparalleled opportunity has limited availability, with only 15 spots open. Interested individuals are encouraged to act quickly and secure their place by providing a 10% deposit, with the remaining tuition due one week prior to the program's start.

I guess Serco is hurting for Controllers

People will make fun of this telling others to roll the dice on OTS bids or military (not available for everyone), but in comparison to those that did the college program (some are in excess of 100k debt), this program and partnership makes the most sense.

You gain experience, you earn a CTO, and then most of the costs are reimbursed. After you do your time you put in for the Agency. Win/win imho.

We needed this ten years ago. Hopefully the 8 week course is thorough enough to compete with the FAA Academy. This is so much better for all the applicants who are applying to OTS bids and hoping for the best.
Is it though? There's literally 15 spots. And then you have to work for serco for 28 bucks an hour..... i like the idea. But the only reason they're entertaining this is because serco is hurting so badly. Literally just pay your controllers.

Absolutely this. It’s criminal how little contractors make. Why would anyone in their right mind want to get out of the military or CTI and go work contract instead of going to the FAA right now. I work at one of the busier serco towers for 3/4 what the faa facility next to me makes. They have 18 controllers we have a fraction of that….

Yea. Roll the dice. Wait for faa hope you get Enroute option and make 300% more than what serco pays the day you certify

If the other contract companies caught on and increased their numbers I could see it being a really good thing. I’d imagine it would be thought of similar to being a CFI. Pay some money to get your quals, work for the company that trained you for a few months to pay your dues while you wait for the next prior experience bid. Sure it’s shitty for a while, but you’re doing it as a career stepping stone.

Assuming you this as a path into the Agency and your first Federal job, going this route is not a terrible thing. Also depends if time is on your side as well. The odds for even getting selected on an OTS route are very small indeed.

With the new CTI program that would prolly be the way to go

Serco also has some relatively scenic locations which could be nice for younger people looking to get a little experience while skiing/rafting/etc. on the weekends. Of course those relatively scenic locations probably cost a pretty penny to reside in, but if thought of with a college mindset, really not the worst thing in the world.

Not that I'd encourage young people to pursue this career with salivating mouths anymore, as it's just ok at best, and if you have drive, you can be happier and more successful elsewhere. O' rue the golden handcuffs! Helter skelter, hang sorrow, care will kill a controller, up-tails all, and a pox on the hangman!

Most Serco Controllers get paid somewhere in the mid 30s
