Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I pray they don’t give me a date before June 15th, my wife is tdy for training until then and we have 2 kids so I’d have to turn it down if they did. I talked to the hr peeps and they said they’d work with me once I pass all the steps. So if any of you wanna go earlier please do for my sake.

I couldn't find the answer in the FAQs, does anyone know if we can bring our vehicles to Oklahoma, and not fly in? Not sure exactly how travel is supposed to work with reporting to your first day.

I’m pretty sure you are expected to to arrive the day before class starts and they will pay for either mileage or airfare but if you drive they won’t pay mileage over the price of plane tickets.

This is correct. I’ve got a Honda and live around dfw area. I’m driving lol

Granted we pass all our clearances...what do you think the odds are for our group getting enroute v. terminal? I know the last bid was heavier on enroute and that's what I'm hoping for since my parents were both enroute controllers for Cleveland Center. But honestly will just be happy to get in.. looking at the planes every day in the tower will be fun too!

I’m really hoping for terminal. Are they cool with switching your option if you find someone to switch with or is it set in stone once they decide for you? Cause I’ve heard different things. I’ll happily take either one but if there’s a chance I can change to terminal if I get en route that’d be cool

It never hurts to ask if you can switch but don't expect it.

Have my physical in T-Minus 60 minutes.
According to my Apple Watch (ECG) my heart rate and is fine with nothing out of whack. Let’s see how accurate it is. Lol

Planning on driving from south Florida. I really don’t want to rely on a shuttle.

Having a car in OKC makes sense, but the shuttle is actually a get-out-of-jail-free card. If there’s a huge accident or train crossing or something else and you’re a few minutes late to class, as long as you’re on the shuttle, you’re in the clear. But if you’re in your personal vehicle, even if you walk into class at the exact same time as the shuttle people, you can be fired. It’s a huge risk to drive yourself to work every day for almost zero benefit.
