Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Just heard back from my POC. They’re just waiting to hear from medical then I’ll get a date. Also asked about requesting terminal and she said it’ll depend on what classes are available when my medical goes through, so fingers crossed. (I’ll take anything, but terminal is my dream ? lmao)
What in particular about terminal appeals to you? The visual aspect? I always like to hear why some prefer one over the other.

I feel like in a center I’d be too separated from what I’m working with, like I’d rather actually be able to see the traffic I’m controlling lol. Plus windows. A big part of my current job is sitting in a dim room staring at screens all day and I hate it. And also more facility options. I’ve actually been curious myself about why so many people prefer en route. The reason I hear most is higher pay but not much else.

In my opinion, the bad thing about terminal is that there are a ton more undesirable locations than en route.

Got a call today from my background investigator (a contractor) to set up the in-person interview later this week. I'm assuming this means I didn't get a conditional, which I expected, but then again this is a lot sooner than I would have thought for the interview to take place (I thought that was basically the last thing they did) so who knows. I believe my employer finally mailed off the OPM questionnaire.

I said this a while ago, but I'd prefer terminal, specifically an up/down, because planes are cool and I like looking at planes. And it's nice to have a window. But I'd also like to not be doing the same thing every single day. ALSO there's an up/down in the town where I live now, so it'd be neat to at least have a whisper of a hope of coming right back here and not having to move.

For those that have submitted the sf86, did you receive any confirmation email (even if it was automated)?
I got an email from my security POC once they received my mailed-in documents/fingerprints, and the fact that they didn't squawk about not having the SF-86 at that time was confirmation for me that it went through.

Yeah that makes sense. But with terminal you certify faster and can transfer to a different facility more quickly. I’d rather live and work in the middle of nowhere for a couple years and come back to my hometown with more options.

When did you submit your sf86?

I submitted the E-QIP and put the forms in a UPS envelope on 2/18, got a response from my POC on 2/20. They didn't send any LOIs or anything, just got this call from the investigator.

Why didn’t you think that they would give you a conditional clearance?
