Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Sorry, I dont even want to guess how they use those crazy questions to learn anything about our psychology lol. It just seems like the mmpi would be faster to grade than a conditional security clearance or a medical.
The MMPI will detect personality traits and a psychiatrist will view the results and see if the traits found are a concern or not.

I was able to tour a level 7 after my MMPI. It seemed like a decent amount of work, nothing insane but definitely requires a lot of focus. Several CA alarms with student pilots turning the wrong way after take off. They said those were the most annoying and it KEPT happening ?
Student pilots are the second worst pilots IMO. Whenever I hear the phrase student pilot, or solo I expect the to screw something up. "Professional pilots" that think there they are God's gift to Aviation are the worst. They have been flying for years yet still can't read back a taxi clearance with the RWY assignment in it, or taxi all the way to the RWY before they say yeah I'm having an ACARS issue I'm going to need some time.... Two of my pet peeves are not being ready for your flow time, and trying to argue on frequency.

Terminal: level 7 or below tower or up-down facility. You may or may not get radar experience.

If you're at a standalone tower you will work clearance delivery, ground control, and local. Arrivals, departures, pattern traffic. Depending upon airport maybe helicopters or other small aircraft. Very little airspace owned, little to no vectoring.

Up-down facility: a combined tower and tracon will afford you radar training. You will work the same tower positions listed above but your facility will also have a radar approach which actually owns real airspace. You'll have to go back to OKC to attend RTF at some point and thus training will be longer than a standalone. Likely your radar will be an arrival and a departure position, potential combined, potentially combined in the tower cab. Learn to use an ABCDE keyboard.

Enroute: level 10+ facilities, typically higher failure rate at the Academy but higher pay. Much longer training process once at the facility. Depending upon the center you may or may not work non-radar. High altitude enroute (think about how many times a day you can ask how the ride is) where you will sequence into whatever the majority of airport in the area is. A lot more automation tools are available to center controllers including a QWERY keyboard. Many sectors also own to the ground and may occasionally run approaches into uncontrolled airports. Centers are significantly larger facilities and can have upwards of 300 employees... This means you'll also have more amenities at work such as a kitchen, gym, quiet room, etc.
??This is good

Texas dude here, so ZFW or ZHU are my picks. That’s largely why I want enroute, there’s at least a DECENT chance I could stay put, unlike terminal. Of course I’ll go wherever
In case you don't know ZHU and ZFW are consistently the spots taken by the top graduate because of the $$$. You better kick ass and hope it's even on your list.

"The Flight Surgeon reviewed you allergy questionnaire and current status report form and all was found favorable with warning that Zyrtec is not allowable. You may use Claritin or Allegra but not Zyrtec. If Zyrtec is taken you will not be able to perform ATC duties for 2 days. Please use alternative medications for Allergies."

Just passing this along for anyone with allergies wondering. Looks like my medical is all good. I believe I'm just waiting for an FOL at this point.

Medical POC told me FS has my stuff and is reviewing it. And apparently my MMPI is also still pending even though I took it like 3 weeks ago? At least no news is good news...

Yea medical also said that my MMPI is pending. Everything else has checked out with the exception of my color vision which I’m trying to scheduale a follow up test, and of course the MMPI results.
