Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I took it October and November of '17. One for ATC, one for Flight Service. Total of 3 times. I keep getting referred, but no TOL. You just have to go in KNOWING that there are going to be things you wont be able to keep up on, I truly believe one of the aspects of the test is to see where you're breaking point is. lol

You're saying they change the test up each time?

no, its always been about the same as far as how its sequenced and its difficulty...memory portion, algebra/memory, L/R perspective*, crashing dots, crashing dots with math, deductive reasoning, reading comprehension, then the weird "not graded" BQ. the timed deductive reasoning and reading comp. have always had the same time limits and number of questions.

Gotcha. Mind giving more details about what to expect with the deductive reasoning portion and how to prepare for it?

Sure. If you can find some examples online to just prepare yourself for what you're going to see, that would help. It's kind of tough. Like that whole "if Bob lives in City A and works in City C, and Mary lives in City A and takes the blue line Subway to work at City D.... What color is Mary's underwear?" Lol okay maybe not that weird... But still. My advice would be to watch the clock and how many questions you have left and periodically calculate (guestimate) how long you have for each of the remaining questions. Manage your time. If your own mental timer for that question runs out, make an educated guess and move on. It's pretty disheartening in the moment, but when you finish your last question with 5 seconds on the clock, you feel better knowing you managed your time well. And the test specifically states that wrong answers are better than missing them due to running out of time.

Edit: Additionally, in every D.R. question there is some sort of constant. Read and understand what they're telling and asking you, disconnect yourself from the order of the information that's given to you, find the constant, and go from there. Easier said than done.

Applied, seems like they are making strides to make the hiring process quicker and easier. Excited to see how it goes.

Question: Does anyone know if you can apply to more than 1 bid at a time? Applied for 6/26/18 bid but that was just for Westbury, NY TRACON. This bid is not specific to a particular location. Turning 31 in June 2019 and am worried I will not be hired in time. Any info would be greatly appreciated :) TIA!

I don't think this is good for those who applied. They must've got an overwhelming response.
This is very good news. With the bq gone, and no way to weed people out, they said they would close it early if a certain numbers was hit. Less competition for us.

The USA jobs resume builder does not let you enter the day you started work in job history only month and year but the bid says you must provide mmddyyyy. Is that okay to NOT include dd?

I did notice that and I saw they were making emphasis on the fact that they need the full date even though USA Jobs resume builder doesn't allow you to put it. But they also strongly recommend to use the resume builder, to be on the safe side just put it on the description or upload your own resume, just make sure it has everything they ask, guide yourself with the resume builder template. Good luck!
