Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Any word on when the next trainee bid will be? I passed the test for the July bid but never got a tol. Any advice on what to do to get this job would also be greatly appreciated

Good morning all. Since I have been tier 2’d for the MMPI, if I go to see a doctor for some minor cosmetic things, and if I get a prescription of any kind, does anyone know if I need to forward that info on to medical?

Nobody really ever knows when they show up, but it's generally once a year around the summer time. Expect around June or so.
That's strange cuz all the reviews I've seen on this site have been very positive.
People are much more motivated to review something if it's negative, especially on sites like yelp.

The only advice that anyone could give you would to do better on the ATSA. I strongly recommend the ATC Prep software. I got it for the iPad, and I'm confident that if I didn't use it for the 4 weeks leading up to the test, I would've bombed it and not received a TOL.

Please review; Yelp gives it 1.5/5 stars.

This. As someone who stayed at both Anatole and IB, Anatole is objectively nicer. The apartments are more comfortable, the furniture is better, the ground are better-looking than at IB, and it's much closer to the Academy. However, since I didn't bring a car to OKC, I ultimately much preferred IB due to the free hot meals 2x a day, an on-site gym, an easy walk to the grocery store next door, and the cheaper price that allowed me to pocket plenty of per diem. I would routinely spend less on food in a whole week than what I got in food per diem for a day, so I was able to save ~$300 per week just from that, which really helped. Obviously money isn't everything, and it's not worth sacrificing your chances at this career to save a few bucks, but I really had no complaints at IB.

I used it too, I felt it helped me prepare tremendously for it.

I think I only did better on the ATSA the second time around because I knew what to expect. Nothing was a surprise so I was able to focus on the tasks at hand better and I felt much more confident during the quick reaction stuff. I was curious about the prep software but never got around to downloading it ?

I believe the experience is different if you rent directly from Anatole vs. if you go through one of the specific FAA housing companies. Supposedly the Anatole people are terrible, but the FAA people are very good.

Just what I remember reading on this site.

I took the ATSA in November but couldn't finish the exam due to their testing site being down for maintenance (lol).
Took a second exam on December 31 and just called today today after reading this thread to find out I'm in the Best Qualified band.
She did mention that the referral list is still open, but really wish I hadn't gotten screwed by the FAA's own site, which I'm told is an ironic joke about the FAA.

I’d be curious to know how many people who used prep guides got a FOL versus no prep and FOL

I feel like prepping isn't very necessary, but making sure you are keeping your mind sharp and just eating/sleeping well before it. I briefly read about what's on the test and that's about it, feel like I bombed the reading/writing part of it which has never been my strong suit but all the first half with the math and radar game I aced and that was enough to get me an offer letter. Quick reaction times is just about enough to get you through it.

I used it and still I believe it's the main reason why I did well on the ATSA the separation part is a little different but everything else is spot on

The ATC prep is like $10 people blow money on way worse things in life if there's even a 1% chance it helps you get this career then it's worth it. People will hate on it but it's up to you.

I did the one from jobtestprep, it was about $80 I believe. People will say "wow you overspent" but here I am with a TOL, so it's hard to hate on it. It really did prepare me for the test.
