Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I'm a Vet still AGR and I find it kinda dumb they make separated vets get every record and ones like myself do next to nothing. I gave them like 6 records for a medical condition I have and thats it, took like an hour to run over to the clinic and grab them and send them in. I was cleared like 2 days after.

I hate to be "that guy" who's asking these types of questions before the Academy, but is anyone familiar with how hardship transfers work?

To make a long story short, my wife has some serious medical conditions that require regular visits to multiple Doctors, and ongoing, advanced treatments. She's been forced to stop working and has semi-limited mobility due to her disease. Because of this, she will be staying at home while I'm in OKC.

The thought of having to move away from her established medical network is obviously not ideal. I am enroute, and there is an ARTCC 15m from where we currently live. The question is, if that facility is not available, would there be any chance of an immediate transfer to that facility based on family hardship?
Yes. But not until you're assigned another facility.
I know it happened in the terminal classes about two years ago. Student assigned a tower, had a hardship approved the next pay period (within 2 weeks) to another tower where he was living.

There are at least 3 providers that book rooms at Anatole. AT&T Corporate Housing, FAArooms and 22 Modern Executive Living. Try calling one of them.

Also: Corporate Housing Solutions, New Genesis @ The Anatole, Premiere Rental Properties OKC @ Anatole

For those who have received an FOL. Did they call or email you? Was it from a (405) area code? Robo Callers are the worst.

Preach, brother. Preach.

I just got an email from my medical POC, i thought she was dead.
anyways, she said "your medical package is still pending review."

If your last day at the academy is 9/27. What happens that day? Do most people check out of their room on that day and leave or do they go to class, stay over night and leave the next day?

Is that your last eval day or placement day?

You should be done with facility selections before noon, and everyone started on their way back home soon not too long after.

I don't know. FOL said last day of class is expected to be 9/27.

I’m not sure if that counts as the last day of evals or placement day, but regardless, everyone in my class left ASAP after we had everything handled picking facilities.

So when a facility allows one travel day does that mean you need to be there the next day or do you get that one full day in between and go to work the day after (disregarding those 64 relocation hours)

One full day after. Let’s say You will have placement day Monday and be able to leave around noon. Tuesday travel. Wednesday report.

I know it seems counter-intuitive but like Stinger said, wait until you get placed at a facility and submit the paperwork. We had two people hardship out of ZHU, one to ZMP and one to ZTL for different personal reasons, shortly after they got here. I feel like it’s much easier for them to approve your hardship while you are still in training since you don’t count against staffing.

A hardship whether you're in training or a CPC is the exact same process. If you had a 4 week release while a trainee, your release as a CPC will be the exact same.
The reason you can't hardship while at the Academy is because you're not represented by NATCA until you are placed at a facility.
