Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Any vets on here use their G.I bill while at the academy and remember how much it paid out?

You will file the paperwork once you get to your first facility as per the FAQ. Should get the rate based on your facility too and if you’re going Enroute, you should get a decent penny back since the Enroute areas usually have a decent BAH rate. If you were Guard/Reserve, you also get the GI Bill Kicker, which is up to $350 a month or so for the life of your training up to CPC.

They’ll also give you the book stipend which is like $80 something a month. I called the VA to confirm that after I was referred and hoping for a TOL.

All of that plus your salary of around $1,500 a month? sounds like you can save a decent amount if you really wanted to

You definitely can. Kim’s charges $39 a day, so if you do the self-pay you’d have almost $60 a day untaxed to spend on food, not including your salary, which would really add up. If you stay at IB on a good rate, you could pocket $50 a day with all meals provided except lunch. In fact, I think almost everyone will make more at the academy when you consider per-diem and taxes than you will once you graduate and start making AG pay.

damn thats sweet, I am currently guard so that all sounds pretty awesome.

Yeah i knew about the extra leave, I'm almost at 10 years active time military so it was hard to make the decesion to leave now that I'm at half way done but this certainly helps, not to mention the pay once CPC.

Oh

Oh there ya go! Buy that time back baby, 10 years added to your 20 federal and you’ll be retiring around 44% minimum.

Is that for your own place or with a roommate?

Okc housing is dirt cheap compared to south Florida. You can have a nice air bnb 2 bedroom house for like $80 a day over there from my observation.

I had my security poc contact me a few times bigshot. They needed me to provide certain things like an SF-50 for one of my previous jobs to show what code I was given to reinforce my resignation. They also needed me to further prove I was a US citizen since my birth certificate is a consular report of birth abroad and I had to obtain a new one in 2013. I think when/if the actual opm investigator calls is when to start worrying haha.

Uh oh security called me and says she has a few questions about my sf86...pray for me friends
Same, they needed clarification on some things I entered. I had to give them a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to explain why I was disciplined at work (I work for a major Telecom).
