Anyone get a basics class date at the Academy yet?
At the academy, or Basics. Online basics have been being offered since May. I've been finished with Basics for coming up on 2 months. There is a valid belief that online Basics will replace physical classes permanently.

I wanted to know if anyone has gotten basics at the Academy. And "valid belief" is an interesting way to say "rumor". Nothing's been confirmed, people are just speculating. That's why I asked if anyone has gotten a basics class AT the Academy.

To add to the speculation they were working on online basics only before the pandemic and they even ran 1 online basics class before all this. It was Ana absolute disaster but it sounds like they got it figured out now.

I wouldn't get too excited ya'll. I am supposed to be one of those going back on July 6th. I'd put money on it not happening given we haven't received official orders. I believe this means they have 4 days to let us know and for us to travel to OKC (July 3rd is a working holiday). There has been a spike in cases in OKC as well as many other parts of the country. My instructors seem to have less info about going back on the 6th than we do. I'd be happy to be wrong but it seems like this wild ride will continue.
I stand corrected ya'll. My class just got orders to start at the Academy again on the 6th. A wild ride indeed.

Last Friday I accepted an on-board date of July 20. Today I emailed my POC asking for an update and how my transfer from my current federal employer would work. I didn't get any answers except for an email minutes later containing my FOL lol. I signed and submitted. The email/FOL still doesn't state my virtual basics start date. It still just has my on-boarding date.

My class was on-boarded last week and are waiting for basics to start because not all of us have our iPads yet. We’re getting paid and benefits have started, just no work to do yet and no Zoom obligation or anything.

So basically expect a week or longer to start virtual after getting on-board. Wish they had virtual classes all set to begin soon after the on-board process. Continuing to work with current employer until the very latest would have been helpful.

You are an employee and start earning pay, leave and benefits when you are onboarded. For me, it's been almost a month from onboarded to virtual basics. I'm getting paid to wait, no downside for me.

Totally understand. Glad it's working out on your end. Little tough on this end considering the huge pay cut since I live in Cali. Looking into side gig
