Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ALLSRCE-61676

Good way to look at it.

Alphabetical could make sense; just seems like if P2 is pretty much going to be only BQ, that it would be: band > alphabetical, but as stated, FAA might just be that unpredictable!

I'm in the P2 BQ band, so here is to hoping that as many P1 people get TOLs as possible!

I’m right there with you! Here’s hoping we all get to the academy.

Pool 2 BQ, really hoping for a TOL. On previous bids did the FAA have the same process? TOL’s to pool 1, then at a later date TOL’s to pool 2? This entire process is an anxiety machine haha.

From what I remember last year they all came out at the same time, over a day or 2. Then another wave came out a couple months later.

Everything was different last year, but to be honest I like this process more. By saying the bands for qualification, people don't call to find out. By splitting up Pool 1 and 2 TOL's there are less people for HR to process all at once. Seems like their new plan is working well so far.

Does anyone know if they look at race/ethnicity or experience (to a higher degree than what put someone in pool 1) / education? Those really seem like the only things that likely to 'bump' someone in the WQ band ahead of someone in the BQ band. At least, they don't seem to have much information available to them aside from age, pool, band, military experience, and college(?).

Just spit-balling though, as you both said/implied, it seems really strange that they would pick a WQ over a BQ.

P1, WQ, TOL sent.

No clue. However, my last name would put me at the bottom. It could be due to prior experience for me since I hold a CTO just wasn't able to do the 52 weeks consecutively. Also, I hold a security clearance still which could be a factor since they are pricey. Prior military as well.

I went into the AT-SA blind basically (first time taking), I'm sure if I went to retake I might do better. I messed up the plane position one a few times since I didn't expect them to be shoved in the corner almost off the screen haha.

Good luck to all and looking forward to seeing class dates.

Anyone think this bill from April has anything to do with the lack of Pool 2 TOLs so far this year? "This bill requires the Federal Aviation Administration to give preferential consideration to air traffic control specialists applicants: (1) who have completed air traffic controller training and graduated from an institution participating in the Collegiate Training Initiative program, or (2) who are veterans."

That bill never passed

Question: hypothetically speaking let’s say I went the CTI route the next 2 years to get into pool 1 and still unable to obtain a TOL before I age out. Are there other paths/careers I would be able to take so that way CTI school wouldn’t be completely a waste?

I am trying to look at pros v cons of going back to school and any potential alternatives Incase these bids don’t work out in my favor. Feel free to provide links or direct answers.

Also congrats to those receiving TOLs. Hopefully all goes well moving forward!
So pros and cons are determined by what school you go to. There were technically 28 CTI schools. Some have CTI as an associates, some as a bachelor's and some do it as a concentration or minor added on to another aerospace degree. MTSU for instance, has 6 aerospace degrees and then you can add 16 hours of ATC classes/labs and get a minor that still qualifies you for Pool 1, but gives you a degree in something else in case something happens and you need a back up plan.

Something not spoken about regularly is that railroad companies LOVE CTI grads as dispatchers since it's basically the same concept as non-radar.

We knew this application process was going to involve a lot of waiting, and the TOL is just the beginning. Lots of other hoops to wait to jump through before Acadamy.

I must admit though I get slightly more apprehensive and nervous with every “new email” notification I receive now.
