Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-22-ATCEXP-76330

So I just got my CIL a few hours ago. I did e-qip and fingerprints like 2 months ago for my current contract tower job. Wondering if I should just do it all again/use the ones I just had completed.
I did the same. I didn't have to redo fingerprints. However, security required upgrade. Your security specialist should contact you on this matter. If they do not, it never hurts to ask.

We are losing radar in September and currently training all of the people from T75 and PIA until that happens. Little town not a hole lot to do but Chicago two hrs north STL 2hrs south. Traffic will be a joke whenever we lose radar but welcome to SPI ?
Damn I was really looking forward to getting some radar experience I've been tower only up until this point! On the bright side guess I'll get CPC quicker $$$

Got my facility assignment. Starting at SPI late august (i think I had it ranked #5, my top three were DSM, EUG, and TRI), if anyone has any insights about the facility and/or surrounding area feel free to enlighten me. I don't know anything about the place lol.
It's the capital of IL, kinda in the middle of nowhere corn country. I've been here less than a year, as far as things to do that depends on you. There are sports bars, a mall, a couple of decent restaurants, and a few recreational things to do. It's a 3hr drive to Chicago, about 2 to St. Louis, 3hrs to Indianapolis, and about 6 hrs to Nashville. As far as facility goes it's damn slow, I believe less than 40k ops annually. There are some decent people who work here and the work environment is what you make it. I recommend looking for apartments now as some of the nicer places fill up fast and tend to have long wait lists once they fill. The cost of living is low here and the pay is decent for the what we deal with. If you want to know more you can PM me and I'll answer any questions you may have.

What happened to the prior military guys that put all their eggs in one basket? Some of these 5s need those airmen that did ATC for 5 years then went and got a CTI degree with their GI bill. We need some of those sailors that don’t have the intelligence or self respect to turn down an offer. My facility is 0/2 on prior military selections in the last month. Leave your dignity at the door and come on down to spin the FAA wheel.

0/2 as in they washed out or they turned down the offer?

Turned it down. I’m mostly joking but there’s a lot of suckers that want to move up and we can’t promote the old suckers without roping in some new ones.

You're right though. I just separated military after 10 years. Everything I've been told from friends who've joined the agency, "Play the game. Don't expect to go somewhere you want from the start. Expect volume. Plenty of 5s are working more traffic than most military bases."

Gotta play the game. I understand not taking somewhere that's likely a black hole or doesn't have good regional transfer opportunity. However, if I can get a 5 or 6 in a decent place, that is close to an 8 or 9, I'm jumping in head first!

lol I know, it took three years haha but my DoD gig is really nice. I’ll only go back FAA if I get a facility close to home or is a good stepping stone. CHS is neither

Are you not able to apply directly to where you want to work as a reinstatement? Just asking because you said "back" to the FAA.

Give me all the 5s, tbh anything to me is good as long as the location is desirable.

So I'm finishing my cil this week. I already have a clearance cause I'm leaving active duty next month. Would you guys think it's possible to have a location by August? I didn't want to go too long being unemployed after I separate so I got a job offer at serco in case the faa hiring process seemingly had no end in sight. But if it appears and is likely it would complete and I can start moving to my facility by august-september then I would probably just turn down serco and keeping moving?

Serco going to move a hole lot faster and probably have you in a desirable location compared to the FAA. But them government benefits and pay ain’t no joke ??‍♂️
