Federal buyout???

Imagine if even 5% of controllers took that option…
Well let's play it out.
You put in 10 years so far

Resign with 8 months pay (severance)
At 12 months you apply direct hire to n90, zny, etc.
Live on long island for 5 years 'training'
Fail training like 92% of other people.
Get great nest list. Work til retirement. (Retire will be low level 12 band since you go in as cpc)

NEST to a decently staffed facility, certify, they still need more N90 controllers so you apply again. Of course they take you.😂 Repeat the cycle until retirement.

You have to pay severance back if employed as a fed again within I think 5 years

Unless you were planning on leaving already or near retirement, I don't see an upside to this

'Repayment Requirement
An employee who receives a VSIP and later accepts employment for compensation with the Government of the United States within 5 years of the date of the separation on which the VSIP is based, including work under a personal services contract or other direct contract, must repay the entire amount of the VSIP to the agency that paid it - before the individual's first day of reemployment.'

Here is the email. A few things to note for me. It mentions people not being forced to return to work and that duties may change. It doesn't say that you are cut loose right away and keep your pay and bennys for doing nothing. For us I would take that as we still have to go to work. It also says that agencies will decide who is not eligible, which again I would assume would be us unfortunately.

Dear God, people! Do NOT fall for this shit. This is precisely the scam Elon did after taking over Twitter. For the love of God, do not fall for it. Learn from the example of those who had to learn the hard way.

I've got an almost 24 month emergency fund available. I could take that hit.

If I went though it would be for good. It's tempting but I think I need more time to get my TSP where I need it and that will take about 5-7 more years based on historical data.
