Lots of schools have zero tolerance policies that don't allow for exceptions to discipline for violence. And this does include when you're defending yourself.

That doesn't mean anything for us at work. Be a professional and don't get into fistfights.

Sure managers are dipshits and don’t do the right thing a lot of time. 13 years in, I have seen people get physical. I have never once had the urge to physically harm a coworker, let alone act on that urge. We have some people that take things too serious sometimes.
I’ve worked in several different facilities. This job is so easy to just do your task well, stfu and be liked by most of your management and coworkers.
