Government Shutdown

CNBC asked Toby Merrill, founder and director of the Project on Predatory Student Lending at Harvard Law School, how she'd explain to a 15-year-old why she believes it's within the president's power to do so.

"The Constitution gave Congress the authority to control property of the government, like debts owed to it," she wrote.

And Congress, Merrill said, granted the Secretary of Education, who works for the president, "the specific and unrestricted authority to create and to cancel or modify debt owed under federal student loan programs."

Of they can just say no payments due until the year 2500!!!

You say that like I'm against the morality of it, personally I believe that profit from education is horrible and that a government has a vested interest in a well educated citizenry. Simply stating facts.

Yeah so would sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq for 20 years but here we are

4 of those years I was included in, the Afghan papers pissed me off wholeheartedly, both my unit and the units involved in Moshtarak got raped.

Yet the Marine Corps doesn't answer to congress in terms of initial deployment, that's an Army/Air Force thing. So while Bush was well within his powers to invade Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, both congress and the people failed to hold him accountable.

Like I said, there is a difference between legality and morality.

“Some thing something if we pull out it leaves a vacuum something something”
Hey man, gotta let the poor people die for lobbyist interests and the Saudi crown.

House Rs gonna block bigger checks and try to eliminate the foreign aid.

PP01 started on 12/20 so I believe that if a prolonged shutdown were to occur we would get a week of pay on 01/12.

Messed something up in that last one haha.

I said the following not Termine:

Did I say it was in the covid bill? No! I'm not all super nationalist myself but given the year we've all had. I think one damn budget being somewhat clean of these fucking ridiculous foreign pet projects isn't to much to ask for. I'd rather see 10 million unemployed Americans be given a damn dollar than see a 10 million dollar Pakistani gender program. This should not be a business as usual omnibus. Again I go back to what I said pages ago. Each and every person on both sides of the aisle need to be voted out. Not even remotely possible but one can hope. We need people that haven't spent their whole lives figuring out how to give the American people the full shaft while making them think they're actually getting a handy.

It’s literally what the white house asked for
What's your point? Did I ever say I was pro white house? Do I give two shits about who put it in there? Did I say one particular person is to blame? No!!! It doesn't belong in there. All I said. And even if I had meant that, you're talking about the presidents request pre pandemic. Or at least pre acknowledgement of the pandemic. Brand new landscape months later. Congress should know better. Hell congress should always know better than the president. It's their damn job to bring the actual needs of their constituents to Washington DC. Did the senator from Pakistan write that into the bill? Is America's security threatened by not studying gender programs there? Come on man! Stop with the BS politics for one damn second and actually call out your people. Nancy and Chuck are just the other side of the same broke ass coin as McConnell and McCarthy. How do you go on TV and talk about Americans hurting and still pass this shit? Said it already. This should not be a business as usual omnibus. That just shows that congress as a whole doesn't appreciate the shit show that is happening. And that is both damn sides,
