It's Over (Finally)

Sounds like a grievable case of conditional leave to me.
Not that simple. It's administrative leave, aka excused absence, and the dick head who wrote the memo specifically says it's up to the manager. But, yeah, it's 100% worth putting the war paint on for.

Totally just asked and was approved on WMT. I think I'm the only one they will approve. Thanks bro! 😆
That's the way to do it. Our supes started "not addressing it in the future" as well.

Ours told us we weren’t allowed to ask for it 🙄

That is like denying leave to protect for sick hits (imho and against the contract) and by denying it they are addressing it (ie... saving it for the day of). As for reconsideration day of (today) and if they can approve leave they should be doing it.

Not exactly. This isn’t a case of art 24

Fair enough, but denying excused or refusing to entertain it is still wrong. It is still a leave request.
Yeah it is. The issue is when there isn't another request after the EA request. There is no contractual time line to address EA requests. So best we have been able to do is force the agency to address requests in order. This was even a fight with EA to give blood.

What really baffles me is why NATCA National seemingly refuses to call out the inequity with the holiday early releases. Much less fight for a resolution. If the Secretary approves a 3 hour early release for 10 federal holidays, that’s THIRTY hours of leave/EA/OT that the air traffic control workforce is just being completely fucked out of every year. That’s not insignificant at all. Then given the near universal frustration with our pay, this is just another slap in the face.

It’s pretty clear the intent with this EA is for the entire DOT workforce to receive it whenever possible. Management saying we don’t even qualify to put in a request for it is fucking insane. This goes above the FAA and I would think if NATCA actually fought it they could pretty easily get something for us. At the very least, 3 credit hours. But they’re too busy wining and dining and talking about how great the fatigue memo is.

Yeah I've never understood why it isn't just given as credit leave, makes no sense to me

Nick and Joel told the Natca academy classes going on this week they need to “temper their expectations” on a raise because the median salary for air traffic controllers is 200,000$ so asking for more isn’t really in the cards.

Source is people that were in the class.

Also interesting nick is already travelling on Natca’s dime and not asking Mick to go.

They should never ever ever refer to our salary after premiums. We just get the regular OPM premiums that any other fed would get and they shouldn’t be held against us.
