Realistic grievance

I think the last year and half has really exposed how weak this part of the contract is. Though I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the agency to have command over the training process there really isn’t much you can do if they are screwing you over.

It's also exposed how weak the hazard pay portion is, but that's off topic and we don't need a locked thread on this one.

Hazard pay for real though. Our contract does not need something about training time or grievances in there. First trainee to request leave will be told you can’t file a grievance. Honestly it’s a shit show. Be grateful we have what we have.

It doesn’t even need that much. Even just a commitment that the agency will follow its own order lol. Right now the only mention of the training order relates to the TRB verifying it was followed but then the ATM doesn’t even have to follow their recommendations lol.

The biggest problem is how the city tract is structured for raises based on training milestones. There should be an additional time based milestone in the event that they just decide not to train you
Hard agree. When you jump three levels and just about catch your half on the go via step raises before you are halfway thru the training program shits fucked. As it stands right now I'll definitely be looking at a paltry 6 percent raise for 4 plus years of training purgatory.

Agree 100%. At the very least, this needs to apply to the first raise. Most people can get by ok on D1, but AG pay is really hard to survive on in most cities, especially if you have a family. D1 should be your first 2 D side certs, or 1 year at your facility, whichever comes first.

Another proposal would be that you should keep your “steps” as you move up. Cus every raise you get knocked back down to step 1.

The LinkedIn comments were epic… The way leadership is out of touch is nothing short of legendary.
Facebook. Instagram. They were all epic. The people at the bottom of the totem pole (controllers, pilots) don’t give two fucks about it. We care about staffing/pay. Idk why/how they get so out of touch.

You can’t get a grievance for training holds/backlogs. Imagine natca trying to defend someone in a trb with max hours and gets a full reset. Does he now get to grieve once he is certified that he could have done the job?

I knew a person who went to full hours plus some, but training review board said supervisor screwed up so they got all the hours back.

They went to max hours again and barely certified.

It delayed the people behind them in training who made it without extensions and such quite a bit.

Those people should sue!

I mean that's a totally different situation than waiting literal years to train at some facilities. It's totally out of hand in a lot of places and it's absolutely unacceptable.

There needs to be some way to address that problem, be it a time limit you can be kept in a training payband, or some way to opt out of that facility after a certain amount of time without receiving training, without it being a withdrawal and training failure.

There's no reason someone should be sitting at any facility not training for multiple years or having enormous gaps of time measured in years between positions. That's a failure on the FAA's part, and if they want to say training is at the agency's discretion, the union needs to hold them accountable when thier bad decisions lead to huge training backlogs, and provide some reasonable recourse for those of us who are losing thousands a year in earnings and retirement.

Nah man NATCA needs to make sure we have gender equality in aeronautical terms.

That’s why they didn’t want to waste time negotiating a contract. They have real work to do
