RNAV approach/ Visual Sep

Leading aircraft on final is a visual approach. The trailing aircraft is a RNAV and cleared. Can you tell the RNAV to maintain visual sep and go below standard sep .

Visually following someone doesn’t equate to requiring course/altitude changes.
Traffic in sight? Follow them, cleared visual approach.

Lead on a visual (or instrument), and the following on an rnav approach and told to maintain visual with the leading aircraft is legal. I've only done it in rare cases though because I think it's kinda sloppy and doesn't sound effective to the pilot.
Instead, just call the tower and have them provide visual separation. Then tell the second aircraft that spacing is good and switch them to tower.

Turns not to exceed 30 degree to intercept any final approach course when being vectored to intercept.
Only if you're clearing an aircraft off the intercept heading. You can legally give a 60 degree heading and say intercept the localizer and be fine. Then when they're inbound, say cleared approach.

It’s only sloppy if you don’t set them up for success. And No wonder you think it’s sloppy, you are giving 60 degree intercepts.

Two different topics, holmes. I don't do 60 degree intercepts, but it is legal.
However, I have done some 90 degree intercept clearances pointed right at the FAF because the pilot requested it. Or simulated emergency vectors on a close PAR approach where the handoff to final-controller happens on base leg to a 5 mile final.
