If we cant defend our rights against an over reaching government, why even have them at all? There is no way the US could ever turn into china, russia, or even the UK where you can get jailed for posting memes.

In 1942 we put American citizens into concentration camps and no one used their 2nd amendment right to defend their fellow citizens rights. The defense against tyranny is a trope.

That was wrong I agree, so if that happened today what would you do about it? If they were rounding up your friends and family would you fight back or just give up? Maybe grab a sharp stick?

You neither need training nor registration to purchase a vehicle, and I doubt they'd flag a person for a no-knock raid and murder them and attempt to charge their boyfriend with assault after said raid.

It's a poor comparison at best to even say "like cars".
I give up.

The economy and GDP are unrelated to the relative standard of living, odd part is this is generally a conservative arguement.

I got one for you, the collateral death rate of drone strikes under the Obama administration were atrocious.

I mean, the question was “what part of the Obama administration were they successful in?” I didn’t say the Obama administration did nothing wrong and was absolutely perfect in every single way. And the economy is much more then just GDP and stock market. In 2008 we were in the beginning of a recession, by 2016 we had record lows in unemployment and many other tangible positives.

Well if you are going to do "something" , I for your sake its more than a sharp stick or some signs that say how wrong it is.

I mean Jesus dude I literally said I’m not anti-gun. J don’t think they should be banned. I just think classifying gun ownership as a right is dumb.

yeah, because “vehicle” encompasses a lot more than just cars. It was an example.

Unfortunately any infringement wears away at the core of the 2nd amendment. Somehow people think that the the 2nd amendment only applies to muskets yet all the other enumerated rights are a "living document". If we start stripping any portion of these away the rest will follow suit.

we’ve added and removed several amendments. It’s the whole reason we have an amendment process. The constituion is designed to be changed. Hell, Ben Franklin wanted it to become null and void every 19 years so the new generation isn’t saddled with the opinions of the previous generation.

You realize there was an incident in Hawaii where a Japanese american couple sheltered and helped to escape a Japanese pilot who was shot down during the attack on Pearl Harbor right? That Decision didnt come out of nowhere and during a War of total conquest it was the most correct thing to do, given the information available at the time. After the war, it was realized it was overkill, but given what we were up against it’s hardly tyranny. No different than Lincoln suspending habeas corpus In the civil war

look the battle of Athens, 1946 where veterans had a shootout with the sheriff who was rigging an election, that’s a example of fighting tyranny

Man I’ve seen a lot of shit on this website but defending the internment of Japanese Americans has to take the cake.

a much more rigorous enforcement of many existing gun laws.
Agree 150%. This needs to be done prior to taking away my rights IMO. And this is not something legal gun owners will object to. I constantly read about crimes where the perpetrator was arrested for the fourth time for selling guns illegally or in possession of guns illegally etc. It is ridiculous, if guns are the problem many think they are then sentencing needs to consistent and to the maximum of the law.
