Changing the rules when you don’t get your way is awful. I’m glad most of the public agrees that packing the court isn’t a good idea.

Like getting rid of the fillsbuster when you can’t get 60 votes for your rapist appointed through

It's moot unless they get to 52 seats. Unless Feinstein and Manchin have a change of heart, they don't seem too interested in adding to the court. Even if they agree to shitcan the filibuster.

I like adding more states personally. DC. And north west south east and north east Puerto Rico

I’m not sold on Puerto Rico since no one really can convincingly say they want to be a state. DC deserves it, carve the area around the Capitol Hill and White House out and keep it under the federal government. DC has more people than Wyoming and Vermont and they don’t have any representation in Congress.

I mean they are US citizens. They can join the army. They can be air traffic controllers. They can force us to be air traffic controllers there. Either make them a state or give them independence.

My opinion was solidified when Republicans blocked Merrick from being a judge but now are trying to push Amy. After that I really stopped caring what the proper way to go about this was. Republicans want to put someone through less than 2 months before an election? Cool, if Biden wins just add more judges.

Amy seems like a nice person and good judge overall but her history with integrating her religion into some of her rulings really puts me off from her.

I believe the term is. Elections have consequences
Right. I have an acquaintance on Facebook who brushed off the Republicans blocking Merrick but wanting to push through with Amy as “politics being unfair, deal with it” but is now crying about the potential to pack the court. That level of delusional is as hilarious as it is sad.

They won't, mostly due to political tribalism. In the 50s it was assumed PR would be Republican so naturally the Democrats opposed the concept of statehood, vise versa for today.

Additionally, and far smaller, PR seeks a commonwealth status to enjoy both statehood and nationhood. In the past 4 referendums the vote has been spoiled by the commonwealth/independence supporters. Usually by not casting votes.

Yes, they need to have a real referendum with widespread participation before any addition is considered.

Fun read Here's why only 4 US states are called 'Commonwealths,' and the significance behind the label

They shouldn’t have blocked Garland, they should have held hearings and voted against him If they didn’t want him, as was their right. Mitch should have came out and said “we were wrong then, we’re doing it the right way this time” to at least be ideologically consistent. He does have a point about the Senate and President being the same party, though, which wasn’t the case with Garland.

Elections do have consequences, and the Republicans have a majority in the senate right now, so 2018 had a consequence that Democrats are feeling now. Instead of accepting that consequence, you guys are going full scorched-earth, and it’s probably going to come back to bite you in the butt, whether it means Biden losing because of this court packing issue, or Republicans following your lead and packing the court enough to counter any bias you put in. This whole thing is the definition of “two wrongs don’t make a right.”

Stop pushing an anti-Gun agenda so much and you wouldn’t be in this predicament.

I mean, okay Joe.

Gun control is literally one of the least controversial issues in politics these days. Like 70% of people favor more gun control lol.

Ah, I’m a Republican so every move we make is for the good of the country but Democrats are just whiners argument. I’d say imagine how you’d feel if the parties were flipped and the dems pulled the same stunt.

I’m sure that if the senate and White House go blue it’ll definitely be “accepting the consequences of the election” right? I’m sure there will be no massive uproar about “fake votes” to go with “fake news”

Sorry, but these are all pearl clutching arguments. There have been rules out in place in the senate for a long, long time. Republicans have shredded those to put their Federalist judges on the bench, which has been in the works for decades. Yes, every move they made was constitutional. When the other guys do the same thing next year, don’t sit back and say “two wrongs don’t make a right” and expect democrats to abide by rules that republicans have flouted for the most of the last decade. The majority of the country thinks that no nomination should occur until the next president is determined. It won’t matter. Just like it won’t matter if Democrats add new justices.

and Ian Cheong is a right-wing troll who got a guy swatted and is of the same ilk as Andy “antifa concrete milkshakes” Ngo.
