Yes, I still haven't heard anything... 🙁

I read an article a few weeks ago that said the average wait time for a secret clearance is 9 months. So, considering my process started in March, my email should be coming in the next few months. (I hope it's sooner rather than later.)

I had a security interview on 6/13. Was told to expect 6-8 months for completion. Received a call on 9/8 saying all my clearances were in and was offered a class date. It was less than 3 months for me (but felt like an eternity). I did also see I think on stuckmic someone else going through this and theirs was completed in 3-4 months.

You don’t get a full clearance before being hired, you get a conditional clearance.

My understanding is that even with a current active clearance through the military they still waste time going through an entire new background check for an even lower level clearance, this makes no sense to me and could potentially save many resources, including time for those involved, in this entire process.

I would think anything moving in the right direction would be helpful, but that's not any kind of expert advice. The whole thing is largely a check to see if your a responsible adult or a potential vulnerability.

Let us know what they say about it, I'm sure many people are in the same boat.

Looks like I've cleared security, I explained the debt to them, I paid off the medical bill after the interview and let them know it was paid off after the interview. In case anyone else is in a similar situation.

Not a lot to go on here.

It certainly could. You cannot turn a blind eye to - or pretend to not know of - illegal activities of those persons you are required to list on your security check forms. You could also be denied clearance if your spouse is employed by a foreign government or has close relationships to persons living in high-risk foreign countries.

Ok....Well my wife was considering a teaching job from a Beijing, China based company that teaches English to grade school kids through online courses. We paused because part of the agreement you have to sign states they have preeminent access to everything you do and that includes systems that connect to their systems. So needless to say we are hesitant to continue forward with that. So nothing illegal just a company from a communist country ;-)

No. I'm under the impression everyone does 86 nowadays (someone correct me if I'm wrong). But, I've done 86 for terminal.

I have been given a TOL for the Prior Experience 17 Bid and the clearance section requirement states “Public Trust Clearance Required”, I’m not sweating it because I currently have a Secret Clearance, however some individuals are being offered enroute as well as terminal.

This is true. I had a TS-SCI through the military and when I went to the academy I had to do basically a brand new clearance for a public trust clearance.

I recently renewed my Secret and it took 18 months for the results.....I’d think a new applicant would take priority and expedited!

Do you think that this expedited your investigation at all though? I currently have a TS/SCI as well so just wondering.

I would think a current clearance would be expedited period. That's government process and spending for you though.

I recieved a tol on the 27th for enroute from pool 2. I am curious, when I was 15 I got in trouble with marijuana, I wasn’t charged with anything but they made me do a “rehab” for a few months because I told them I smoked occasionaly. With that being said I’ve never been in trouble since, never been to jail or arrested. Is this something that could slow the process down for me or potentially eliminate me? Do I have to provide that information given that I was a minor at the time?

Yes you would have to answer those questions. I believe it highly unlikely that one item alone would be disqualifying. This process isn't a witch hunt, its to make sure people who are seriously or habitually in trouble or have problems which compromise their ability to behave to the level of responsibility the job requires.

I got a DUI the day I graduated college February 2013. Seems like it's hit or miss with the clearance? Would hate to miss my shot at this for something dumb 5 years ago. No other criminal blemishes and I'm a senior financial analyst, think i'll be okay?
