Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-21-ATCEXP-71144

My question was why they would even include tower only facilities on a list if they specify in the email that you wouldn’t be placed there anyway

I.... Dont know if I really understand. But i'll try to explain. If you have it on your list, and you rank it 1, and the FAA needs you there. They're gonna send you there. Doesn't really matter your experience. Its moreso luck of timing.
My homie who had gotten a list in January this year was RADAR only. He had gotten an email saying he shouldn’t have had any tower onlys on his list and to expect an up/down.
I think it’s more probable that the FAA doesn’t even know the rules and messes up all the time and assigns you a facility by pulling it out of a hat. Lol

A guy I work with was radar only in the military and his first facility was a tower only.

Does anyone know if for your initial move once your picked up, the FAA helps pay for your move or is it out of pocket? It would suck to get picked up across the country from your current location if paying out of pocket was the case.
The answer is no. Absolutely not. At least you wint be starting on AG pay and having to move across the country on your dime like the ots people.

If you recently got out of the military and they haven’t moved your stuff yet back to your home of record they will ship it to your new city as long as it isn’t farther than your home of record. But that’s only if you very recently got out and haven’t had them move your stuff already.

If I remember right, I think you have 1 year from Date of sep to request that.

You have 6 months to complete your move from the day of your final-out, but can apply for a 6 month extension if you have a "valid" reason for not being able to do your move sooner. I had mine extended, and it was as simple as sending an email with a copy of my TOL saying I was awaiting placement.

Yeah JE from the RAPCON. I recognize RB as well. Tower right?
Yep that's me dude, grats on the list.. still waiting for mine, haven't even heard about my medical clearances or anything. I'm out at a contract tower in AZ now. I'd recommend PRC, you'll get some work since it's a lot of VFR guys and helicopters.. but the area is pretty sweet.

Hobby on that list not bad. They couldn’t find anyone in the last NCEPT that wanted to go there?? Congrats to whoever gets it I guess.
If I had to take a shot in the dark they probably had 20+ errs in. Whether they could pick up I have no idea but welcome to the FAA where prior experience people get the most desirable facilities while people are stuck at shit holes for years.

I don’t hate it as much knowing they used to be FAA at a similar level but ideally that spot should go to someone in right now who has been trying to get there and is qualified. You can’t tell me they couldn’t dynamically decide to select someone for that spot when they turned around 2 weeks later and offered it to someone outside the FAA.

Best way to get to a desirable facility is to actually quit the agency. It’s crazy.

I got my list today too. It says to complete the facility preference survey in the email but I don’t see a survey attached. Any insight on this? Thanks

Should be a “Monkey Survey” link or something along like that for you to use.

That’s what I figured but it wasn’t in my original letter. I emailed them saying I didn’t receive the survey and got a response immediately including the survey. Thanks btw ?

It's even crazier to me that those on the ncept panel and the placement teams dont have any sort of collaboration. Prior exp may get a desirable location because the placement team sees opening and they offer it. The ncept panel sees an opening but because no one on the list gives more than $5 a month to the PAC ain't nobody getting picked aka Dynamic Decisions.

I just received an email saying a second level or "tier 2" evaluation is required due to my MMPI-2. What should I expect?

I’ve been tier II since august 2019. You should expect a long wait. Hopefully it moves fast for you but for a lot of people it does not. Good luck

Damn that’s rough. So it’s a big lie when they say all you need is a one on one eval to get cleared if you tier 2 MMPI? Or does the processing just take forever?
