Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a bill to pay for things which we've already passed, not new things.

Therefore we (they) should know what's in it, and thats not even getting into the whole "buy things on credit and then decide at a later date whether or not yo pay the bill" aspect of it.

Correct. In fact Trump increased spending so much and decreased revenue so much that even if Biden hadn’t spent a penny since taking office, this debt ceiling would still need to be raised.
