They shouldn’t have any slots until the pool of current experienced controllers move up. Those off the streets should be replacing ZJX applicants at lower level facilities. The union is losing members at a rapid rate bc of poor practices like this

If anyone has applied to ZJX and are a current cpc I would advise you file a grievance.
Like if someone has had paperwork in for years and they could've been released on a 2021 ncept had zjx been able to pick up? But aren't able to release now? Wasn't the zjx atm fudging the staffing numbers? Is this what you mean?

No for academy placement. If they don’t have enough applications there then send them. Isn’t that what the union is moving towards placing where no applications exist?

Isn’t that what’s going on here? ZJX just selected 8 off the NCEPT list. Out of those selections, 2 spots just opened out of the academy for ZAU…so new hire replaces transferring CPC.

And guess what, ZJX was granted an exception to select 8 instead of the level 11 cap of 4. Thanks NATCA! Hopefully they’ll select another 8 next panel.

Say they pick up 30-35 bodies to get to 85 percent staffed. They will get there in a balanced way, half will be ERR’s and the other half will be new hires. It’s unreasonable to think a facility should exclusively select transfers. Gotta build up the farm system.

There’s no such thing as a level 11 cap of 4. Caps have been based on CRWG targets.

I think it’s great they are sending cpc applicants. And no I don’t think it’s unreasonable to exhaust current cpc applicants to understaffed facilities first. Then tap into the pool of new hires. And a farm system sounds great……just like baseball start the farm system down in the minors before moving up to bigger places. Take the players who are showing results at the bottom and move them up. Like I said, if a facility isn’t getting applications from current cpcs then tap into new hires. But if there is an abundance of applicants new hires shouldn’t be going to those facilities. BUEs at low level facilities have every right to be upset with the way this system works. And it is showing in the dropping membership. That’s strictly my .02.

Do we have stats of the declining NATCA membership anywhere?
 
Is there going to be a bid to ZJX? Or just scam ass NCEPT
Bid makes too much sense as it would solve the problem fastest with qualified applicants.

NCEPT works best for the government since it allows people to get there after a year release and generally they will come from adequately staffed towers / low up downs and will need enroute training.
