Obviously I have to wait until Monday maybe it's just a misunderstanding but this has the potential to turn into a nightmare. how could the 9-agl email tell me everything is cleared and then I find out the opposite where is the disconnect.

I'm almost 25, clean record, no debt, no loans, credit score of 760, good references, I have a very straightforward background that should have had zero red flags. What kind of red flags other than what I mentioned I know I'm good on could there possibly be? This is really frustrating..
Had to have been the MMPI

They told me that cleared. But who knows what's true and not true anymore.

The MMPI and background check are not connected.

Did you pull a copy of your credit report? Perhaps your identity has been stolen.

I'm a bit ignorant on the subject but wouldn't my credit score be way lower if that were the case? I'm not too familiar on having my identity stolen haha. I mean I guess that's a possibility? Would be wild if this is how I find out.

Not necessarily. It’s worth checking even if it has nothing to do with the clearance. Get it from all three agencies.

I'll take your word for it and look into that. For now though I guess I'll have to just wait until Monday when my POC gets back in the office. I'm hoping it's just some kind of misunderstanding but I know I'll have an uphill battle since the "full investigation" has officially started. Not sure why I was never notified about this and told otherwise just a few days ago.

I'm sure you are in near freak out mode, and that'll make for a long weekend, but stay positive on it. If your background is as clean as you say it then maybe it's just a misunderstanding with your evil twin, and it'll be straightened up by this time next week.

I hope so. Still can't think of what could have caused it from a legitimate stand point from my information. Not in freak out mode just incredibly frustrated I might get delayed months (or a year) for something I didn't do. Time will tell.

Well at least you're not projectile vomiting/crying in a ball in the corner.

Sorry that happened to you, David! That sucks. If it were something on your credit report I don’t see why they wouldn’t ask for additional information about any negative credit info instead of just denying. I hope you get it sorted out Monday.

Thanks! Honestly the only thing I've come up with, without truly knowing much of anything about the situation, is my POC has been out of the office for a while and somehow the other David's clearance ended up under mine and she hasn't been there to notice because yeah you'd think if I had a hold up they'd let me know? Never heard anything. Monday can't come soon enough.

That final scene where Bane and Batman are fighting and Bane lights up that concrete column will be my mood until Monday.

Ok, from StuckMic, this thread appeared just one week ago in which a young, otherwise clean person received a denial on his clearance as well. This is what he said:

"I had to do a full security check as well. During the interview the lady asked if i ever went by any other names and i said no. She laughed and said okay now i can tell you why we are here. A creditor filled out paperwork wrong at some point in my life and made my name my First, Last, Last instead of First, Middle, Last. She said that dumb stuff like this happens all the time and always flags for a full interview. We still had to go through the entire processes but everything else was correct."

Yea it seems like a small mistake can ruin your ability to get a conditional security clearance. I'd also suggest refraining from commenting on this other "David Graham" who's also going through the hiring process. Just based on your prior commentary you've made it public knowledge what his medical issues are. Outside of just being respectful to his privacy, I could see sharing private information accidentally blowing up in your face if you are not careful.

IIRC the standard reimbursement rate for POV travel is $0.56 / mile. They do not pay extra for tolls, food expenses, or lodging while in transit. I believe they determine the airfare payout by calculating an average of the flights from your home to OKC. They will then pay you the cheaper of the two, which is usually the airfare cost, even if you drive. You are also entitled to 1 day of housing per diem prior to the start of class so you can get settled in OKC.
A few years ago I was paid almost $900 each way for travel going off the mileage for driving.
Flying is always a choice that the government will pay for even if it's more than the driving expenses.
If you drive, you'll get the cheaper of the mileage/flight paid to you.

If I get delayed for something that stupid I swear to God. Only thing I can think of at this point is I was let go from a job after only 3 months of being there. Not for bad performance I just had an illness and some school conflicts and in their eyes that made me "unreliable" so they didn't bring me on full time. But I didn't hide it, explained the situation, and literally every other reference I have can put in a good word for me including a fellow CPC who is a personal reference. I asked about this on here months ago and was told by multiple people it shouldn't be a problem as it was years ago and was not a pattern by any means. I guess maybe that could be it.

Looking for some advice or insight if any of you are pilots are can relate. Now that people are getting dates so soon its starting to hit me. Ive applied for 3 previous bids but now its becoming reality. I went to school for atc in hopes of becoming a controller and really enjoyed doing it. While I was in school i realized how hard and competitive it would be to actually become one. So in the meantime, I start working on a backup plan and picked up flying and ended up loving it. Now I have been a CFI for a bit and have many open doors as far as career paths. I know being a pilot will potentially better me as a controller but I'm torn between the two. I really wish I could do both but I know it doesn't work like that. I figured I'd at least give the Academy a shot. Any input is appreciated.

Tough question. I am a leisure pilot and have been in the aviation industry in various capacities for 8 years...I'll take a crack at this.

Both jobs are time sensitive as far as age goes, if you ever want a shot at flying for the mainline you need to come in before your expiration date. Just as well, you need to be below a certain age to get into ATC. Pay wise, you will earn lots more in ATC initially. After several years flying mainline it would even out somewhat, depending on certain factors. You're already a CFI so you now have the opportunity to earn PIC hours and get paid to do it...you're probably not too far off from a crack at the regionals. You need to decide now what your heart really wants, since you have a good shot at both routes from my perspective. If I were you I would go to the academy and see how you like it at your facility. Do not waste too much time figuring out if that's where you truly want to be. If not, then no harm done. You could still even CFI on days off if you really wanted to.

Go to the Academy and give it a shot. You'll still be able to fly on the side during free time when you're a controller.

Like Nur810 said, it comes down to what your heart says. In my case, I made it through Commercial in college. I took the classes for CFI ground but life got in the way, and I decided I wasn't passionate enough about it to try out in the pros. I love flying and will always be a pilot, but for me, the grind isn't worth the reward of making it to the majors. In ATC I will be able to make a comfortable living and fly where I want to, not where I have to. My personality is well suited towards sitting still and talking to airplanes for hours, yours may not be.

The fun part of flying is taking a plane up where and when you want to. Join a flying club or if able buy a plane so it's always available when you want it.
