If Trump wins, and we negotiate under his EOs, the Union will be a skeleton of itself. Our work-lives will be at the whim of what ever idiot is in charge at the FAA.
I'll go ahead and ask, how do you picture things getting much worse? Pay is already so low that it's seriously affecting attrition and causing service disruptions. Tons of people already on 6 day weeks. What exactly do you think a trump administration is going to impose on ATC that's not going to spectacularly bite them in the ass?

Pay is lower now than it was right before the 81 strike. The lack of perspective that many in NATCA have right now is so disappointing. We should have all the power, even if there's a republican in the white house this year.

Oh it could get way worse buddy.

It can't. Not without triggering major service disruptions that are going to be absolutely radioactive from a political perspective. You are straight up going to run out of people my dude. Airline revenue was a quarter trillion in 2023 and is only going up. You actually think either party wants to explain to the flying public that they're willing to sacrifice the safety or efficiency of air travel over being sticklers about ATC pay and working conditions? Even small staffing issues have had massive effects when they occur at certain facilities on certain days.

Idk, maybe this stuff all needs to happen because I am getting some major "this is fine" vibes but I assure you the political calculus of fucking with air travel is well understood on both sides.

Not disagreeing, but more curious. What does that look like to you? What things, in your mind, would make it way worse?
Our issue is pay but all the other things like dress code, breaks, schedule, bidding, can all get way worse. We could wind up with retail like schedules that are just posted a week in advance working different days off or shifts week to week.

You’re just saying it’ll be fine…basically the same energy as it is fine.

i have no idea why anybody gives a shit about the dress code. I’d wear a dumb and dumber tuxedo every day if it aided me getting a sizable raise.
I’d be willing to give up a lot for a sizable raise. Dress code is a good start.

I’m in the minority, but privatization doesn’t seem as bad as people’s made up delusions seem to think it would be. Prove me wrong with something that isn’t speculation of how it would be worse than it is now.

I plan to wear a powdered wig, shout "Up the Rebels, down the British," and adopt a Bostonian accent just to celebrate the Semiquincentennial in 2026.

Health insurance. In my own selfish way, though I am sure I am not alone, the health insurance to me is the most important because of some rather unforeseen week long hospital stays the last 3-4 years. The private sector will NOT pay for my medication which is in excess now (yay...) of 100k a month given the rate I pay BCBS.

You won’t be giving up dress code for a raise. Everything is about money, the total costs of the labor agreement

Giving you a guarantee to bid your leave in advance is a huge cost to the agency

All the provisions of how the agency can assign your shifts and/or change your shifts. Huge cost to the agency

So many people take for granted how things just “normally work”.

Mgmt can make your work life miserable and you’ll still show up because you need a paycheck.

The only reason I continue to show up is the pension.
