Too much political power fighting against user fees for this to be anything other than a crack pipe dream.
But in general the basic ideological idea is that a regulator shouldn't also be a service provider. So you spin off the ATO as it's own thing (which also makes it easier to privatize) and have the FAA solely exist to regulate and inspect. This is supposed to allow the ATO to operate more like a business instead of a bureaucracy. It's a purely ideological concept though. Public safety isn't a business, monopolies are poorly optimized no matter what, etc.

Thanks,
Essentially we become a bit more.like Canada's system?

I unfortunately do see this attempted in 2026.

For what it is worth, as of now the Trump admin hasn’t endorsed Project 2025. The Trump admin has their own version which is Agenda 47 and on their campaign website..

Oh thanks not much there other rolling back Marxist communist policies? I just searched for dot, atc, and faa on the website not much there

It's a partway compromise. It would be like turning us into the post office. Then the next step would be to fuck us over and handicap us. Then the last step would be "see government sucks, let's privatize them."
Yep. The Republican Post Office play... wasn't that arbitrarily changing how they do their accounting to a way that no other agency has to do, so they went from being fine, to still being fine, but now it looks bad on paper, so we can justify fucking over everyone?

Fortunately our brothers and sisters won’t stand by and get cucked and hopefully take matters in to their own hands before any of this ever happens right? Riiiiight??

Just reading about the conservative pathway for Project 2025 and how it would be good/bad for us. I need someone smarter than me.
I pay things like this no mind and recommend no one here does either... except to educate yourself on how both sides think about government and our profession. Then again, I'm old and have seen these proposals floating around for the past 30-40 years. Want to know why these proposals have floated around for 30+ years? It takes legislation passed by the House & Senate and signed by the President to make almost all of these changes. And, who has time for that when there's a boatload of checks to cash for doing nothing?

The organizations - both on the left and right - that float these monster-sized books full of proposals for "how the government should be run" are in it for the money. Hell, who isn't? Publish proposals, raise money... hold a news conference, raise more money... appear on talking head shows speaking in bullet points just the perfect length for posting the video on social media, raise some more money... testify in front of a congressional committee or two, raise even more money... Congress does nothing, raise greater sums of money on the outrage that Congress did nothing... update same proposals to fit the current narrative or a change in Administration or Congressional leadership, raise all the money.... wash, rinse, repeat.

While I do donate to NATCA PAC and am active in legislative activities impacting the Local, I refuse to participate in NiW. There is zero doubt I would lose my sh*t in some congress critter's office listening to how much "they care" only to have what really matters - their f*cking vote - continually go against our collective interests. Congress is no better than these shady f*cking "think tanks." Want to know why? We all know there are common sense solutions to all of the nation's issues... where both sides give-and-take and both sides get something in return for something. But, no. Everyone has to have it their way and no one ever compromises. That refusal to compromise is what enables those congress critters to.... raise money. Wash, rinse, repeat.

There's a line in there about consolidating the ARTCC's for cost savings. I thought the dude at ZAU who set himself on fire ended that talk, lol.

Can't wait to see you all at the cheap MEGAARTCC they build in Oakes, ND!
It should have ended all consolidations

All the worry in here of ATC getting split from the FAA is laughable. The ramifications of fucking with air travel are well understood by both parties. Lest not forget the airlines are all stakeholders in this too and NATCA is definitely not the only organization lobbying in DC.

I wouldn't say it's laughable, especially since the 'stakeholders' were all for the privatization push around 2013ish along with Rinaldi. But I do agree that splitting from the FAA in in any form is unlikely.

Yeah, I think it's a reality we do get split off eventually, the only question is to where.

Yeah but if the NAS faces a big wave of resignation then what? I’m just saying there’s definitely more to it than that. Theres a lot of safety, money and political interest at stake in doing something to that effect.

Apples to oranges brother. We aren’t sorting mail here, separating airplanes has much more public and political perception. Not to mention real world military ops, the govt does not mess around in having govt employees directly involved in anything posing even a moderate risk to things like that.

Yea until Trump wins and can and will literally just accept bribes (because his paid for Supreme Court just made it legal, oh wait it's a "gratuity", oh wait, no straight up bribery isn't illegal for the president because he's immune!) to tell his cronies to privatize it for whoever makes the best offer.

Theoretically if this were true the regard controllers would continue to work for 1/2 the money they’re making rn because nobody wants to stand up and fight. There’s a reason controllers fought in the 80’s. They had huge balls I don’t think this generation does and that’s why whatever the faa shoves down our throat they will get away with. Forever.
