If you don't issue pertinent traffic advisories and control instructions to separate aircraft, you aren't using visual separation, you're just spectating a nmac.

It’s always happened all over. No one knew about it hardly. We didn’t have YouTube and everything else putting it out there for everyone. Technology has changed a lot, so perception has changed a lot with it.

Yeah he sounded annoyed that he had to watch two aircraft come together. And if I was a betting man, I would say he forgot about the arrival… no traffic exchanged whatsoever. Withholding traffic is something ya don’t do when you’re trying to run a squeeze play ESPECIALLY when your departure is cleared from behind the hold short line.

I agree with you.

I used to work with a controller that clears every departure for an immediate take off. Barely has runway separation most of the time. Some controllers just like seeing how close they can get planes without getting in trouble.

I've worked with people who forget aircraft approaching the runway, make them stop, then remember and clear for immediate and barely have separation on a regular basis. A+ service
