Facility Downgrades / Upgrades

But at the same time 8 controllers are cut in pay as you said but 21 will get raises. (guessing on those numbers). But I’m against consolidating lol. Or more importantly against closing facilities.
If that happened in tandem that would have been great. Unless PSC was not working lvl 6 traffic and it barely moved the needle for GEG to go to an 8.

MWH is also a rough place getting people in the door, if they gave GEG their radar as well, they would be better staffed since the radar would be gone, and GEG would hopefully start moving up

Right now MWH is fine with staffing, 14 CPCs with 15 being our target, however we lose one to C90 in a month and probably will release one in NCEPT with a year release date being next summer.

However, no one is against giving up the radar. If anything we all want that to happen. I think we have a few people that would move to GEG if it were to happen.

Unfortunately we're still recovering from 804, don't think anyone here is too crazy about going through another one any time soon lol. Everyone on 6 day work weeks still even though we'll be over 85% staffed soon with just 1 new trainee. We totally got screwed. Not to mention we're still a level 7..... Who even knows when we'll upgrade at this point.

Yeah I was there at the beginning of the year for OJTI class and that’s what most people were telling me. Even though your facrep showed me where we were supposed to go, looks like you guys are ready for us…

As long as your traffic count stays this elevated and is valid, GEG is at the point where you will start to get back-pay once upgraded.

One caveat: I belive the backpay starts on month 3 of being above the breakpoint, not all the way back to the first month. A lot of people misinterpret this to think it means you get an automatic upgrade after three months.

It’s the first full pay period the month after you show. Example: if you break through the level 7 max in the January TCI and end up getting upgraded to an 8 you get your raise back dated to the first full pay period of February.

How elevated? About to go into the slow season with winter around the corner. I’ve heard airlines are already cutting schedules.

It's a rolling 12 month calculation. So put simply, as long as GEG maintains the same amount of traffic they did at this time last year or greater they will continue to be above the upgrade threshold.

But even one month below will reset the clock right.? Which could be likely if they aren’t well above numbers now.

Someone showed me in the contract that it says something like after reaching the breakpoint & being above it after 3 months, the ATM has to provide information supporting we can stay above the breakpoint for 12 months for the upgrade

Appendix A of the Slate Book. Under Administration of the Standard, part 2, item 3.

Here's a dumb hypothetical: Let's say I was at an 8 already. I saw GEG was trending toward an upgrade and decided to put in paperwork. I get picked up and my report date is 10/1/24. They get upgraded on 12/1/24 with an effective date of 9/1/24. I save pay when I get there but do I get the 6% raise? I was there when the upgrade became official, but got there after the backdated "effective date."

Just to clarify, someone actually went on the TCIP site and saw GEG above the breakpoint for a 8? I’ve been gone so I haven’t had access, but a few months ago I did check and they weren’t really close

Yes, it happened for the month of July. We've been above the buffer for awhile and it's been excruciating seeing how close we've been for the last couple of months

Make sure someone in your facility that’s good with numbers is auditing any traffic that gets counted manually (i.e. pattern work). That will be looked when your facility gets validated. If folks aren’t accurately counting now, fix it and stay on top of it till you get validated.

We just started inputting our pattern work in ourselves this last month. The controllers hadn't been manually inputting pattern work & it kept getting messed up by the person who had been doing it. I'm sure in the last 10 years there were months that nothing was counted either before we started looking into it.

We have a controller who volunteered to make sure everything was counted correctly and he's already had to fix a number of issues over the last year or two.

I checked GEG TCIP and y'all are hugging that line for an 8 but you guys definitely are above right now. Just hold it and make sure that count is accurate.
