Like a lot of things, it depends where they were and where they’re going. I definitely hear you and agree in part. But there’s a wide spectrum of skill out there and an even wider demand for it.

The prior military who have come through OTS have never been much better. But I suppose they don’t have enough experience to do the Prior bids

52 weeks certified time is all that’s needed, although some probably seek the OTS route as it’s just what got them in the agency. Getting hired even in a prior exp bid is not a guarantee. But in fairness, there are definitely those who probably washed in the .mil side or other cases who didn’t get 52 weeks and just wanted to give ATC another crack on the civil side.

I would say It’s a decent gamble to go OTS just to get into en route.

I agree, but after the Air Force gave their en-route scopes back to ZLA in the 90’s OTS is the only way to get straight into en-route. Priors still have to hire in, go to some terminal facility and then play their hand at getting released for NCEPT. Going to the academy is definitely a gamble, but it’s one that could parlay into not wasting several years of your life/career depending upon one’s ambitions.

N90 Class finished evals today. Finished 5.5/6 overall (guy that cut in half does RTF evals and is then offered 5/6 up/downs).

Excuse the ignorance, but basically 5 pass for N90 and the other gets to go to a lvl 5 or 6 somewhere if he passes rtf evals?

Either 8 or 6 started in basics. I think 12 were in the initial IQTR class

yes. there was a 2023 OTS N90 bid and they picked a few for the regular OTS bid, if they were the regular OTS bid they can do the RTF route, but what I heard from the class is that the N90 bidders could not go RTF route
