The Obama era hiring practices resulted in 10% less people certifying at their facility because they dropped the scores to be qualified and well qualified. They knew it would result in less certifications but did it anyways for diversity. It’s in black and white in the 2012 barrier analysis.

With Goal of 2000 hires a year since 2015, let’s say 1500 pass each year that’s 150 per year who don’t certify at their facility. Over 10 years Thats now 1500 would be controllers who took slots away from better scoring candidates but were diverse and lower scoring. At this point every body we have /don’t have counts

The biggest problem with controller staffing is ideological but not in the right or left sense. Automation and privatization are always perceived as right around the corner. Easiest way to get funding and to sell people on funding infrastructure is asking for some technological magic bullet. So staffing takes a backseat. Even the law that passed to force the faa to staff is based on data from 6 years ago. So every presidential admin is constrained by the same systemic impediments and prays some elon type is going to save them

The tech we are talking about rolling out has already been rolled out everywhere else. We are the only modern place that doesn’t have mode s readout for what the pilot has input in their auto pilot.

My facility is actually working towards rapidly becoming proficient with whatever replaces stars by just not fucking teaching anyone how to use stars in any meaningful way.

I learned to type AND talk at the same time with the ABC keyboard (which most people can't do today even though I teach and encourage it). I'd be fucked any other way. I'm almost to 3 digits on my retirement countdown days app.

Without the right pen, strip-marking smears and planes crash, resulting in millions of deaths per year.

Also, those printers are expensive. However, they pale in comparison to a box of those strips which rival the bi-weekly salary of an AG. Totally dangerous and irresponsible gov't spending.
