Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Jumping way ahead of myself here but I'm just curious. How long does it take to become a CPC after leaving training in Oklahoma City? The number 4 years has been thrown around a lot but from my understanding that's the maximum length of time allowed and most people check out sooner. Am I missing something here?

It depends on a lot of things. No actual time limit but there will be a limit on your hours. That’s what matters.

For me, I went to a center and it was under 2 years. People that got there just a few weeks after me were over 3 years. I got lucky and waited like 30 days for a D school and a R school which is rare. Timing is everything. As for hours, on my first two D’s and R’s, I used about 80% of my total hours, 50% on my 3rd and 4th and minimums on my last two. That was pretty standard but everyone will be different depending on how your progressing.

Also, I transferred and each center runs things a little different. At my old center, D and R schools were about 5 months long. Where I am now it’s less than half. The average times aren’t exactly accurate as I think that will include transfers. So I transferred center to center and took 2 months. I’m pretty sure that gets averaged in which is obviously not something a new hire should expect.

Can anyone tell me what the general dollar amount I can expect to be making starting off all the way to CPC? I make about 58k/yr and was wondering how long it would take to get back to that

At my current facility you don't d2 until after you return from RTF and get a position downstairs. Can be on AG pay for a while.

Exact numbers as of 12/11/18:
Invited to ATSA- 4968
Took ATSA- 3113
Passed ATSA- 2384
Selected- TBD
What are the hiring numbers again for both pools again, total? 600-700 or so? About 25-30% of those who passed to get a TOL I reckon.

Thanks for the numbers by the way!

Anyone know the amount of people in each pool? Like which pool has more people in it? If that info isnt available from this bid maybe someone has info for a past bid?

So there's basically an hour limit at each facility, that varies by facility, that you have to complete your training by?
