Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I agree that it's not bad compared to what they're going to see at their facilities. I don't even care if controllers want to get on and tell them who cares relax etc. What is absurd is some trainee puke coming on and calling people names and talking like he's better than them when he went through the exact same thing a year ago. Then as soon as he's called out, he makes his profile private as if that suddenly means he's not a hypocrite.

Hey there, trainee puke here. I wasn’t trying to come across as holier than though or better than others. My original comment telling people to go on with their lives and not sit around every second was supposed to be my attempt at telling people it’s going to take a while.

It obviously came across the wrong way and people got offended. The comment that got everyone fired up was uncalled for I see that now in the heat of the moment I was pissed off and acted like I was some self righteous cunt that had been in the agency 20+ years it was a mistake so I deleted that comment.

I made my profile private because I see the amount of anger that comment made so in an attempt to stay out of it I turned off everything and decided to just stay off these forums because obviously what I say is just going to come across as rude or docking and I really don’t want to see this happen again.

Peace everyone enjoy the career and if I made anyone mad I’m sorry seriously wasn’t my intent it was a moment of anger. ✌️

Most workplaces require professionalism to deal with issues such as your boss or trainer being tough or rude to you. Sounds like a lot of people on the ATC job don't have the professionalism to do their job despite their feelings.

The only difference between this job and others that I've had is in the private sector people would be fired for doing or saying certain things. In the FAA it seems like you get a meeting with pro-standards, it takes an act Of Congress for a controller to get fired. There are a good bit controllers that are type A personality, my way is the best way and f@$k others that tell me I'm wrong, and some of them end up being trainers when they clearly shouldn't be. I hope you guys make it through the system and get certified so current controllers can get to the facilities they want to be at.

Lol, it's exactly the same working for airlines too.

Not as bad as the airline I was at for 7 years prior to this job. It just seems like there is a higher concentration of assholes in this job. Personally I don't care what your personality is like when your plugged in as long as you can work traffic.

Oh, that I believe. I just showed up to say you can't get fired. For anything. Ever.

So the academy is like the arrogant tools in Top Gun, but at the airplane traffic wannabe level.

Too bad it sounds like nobody has any perspective, or common decency, at training.

I appreciate you saying this. I understand where you are coming from and appreciate your advice. Apologies for my part in this. I was and am not upset with you or anyone else here. I wanted to convey that I thought discussing things we may never know or will eventually know doesn't hurt anyone and doesn't mean we are stressing and not focusing on what matters. Best of luck to you and I hope I still see you around on the site! :)

For those of you that became worked up or became offended in this thread but still say that this job is for you:
You will very likely have to deal with a lot of sarcasm/drama, depending on where you end up and that's just with your co-workers, let alone the actual traffic you have to manage. How will you be able to handle that sarcasm/drama/traffic all at the same time, if you can't even handle snide remarks on an internet forum without making petty remarks back? If you struggle to handle stress, sarcasm or insults on an internet forum, I genuinely wish you the best of luck in dealing with your trainer.

As interesting as the drama is on this thread, going to try to change the subject to something more related to the topic.

What documents will we need to provide the FAA before we get to the academy but after we receive a TOL? I know that they do a background/medical clearance and a psych test after you receive a TOL but what type of documents or information do you need to provide? Do I need to have my official transcripts ready? A list of previous addresses/proof of residence in them? My medical records? Insurance records? I tried to search around here and .65 for more specific details but was not able to find more information.

Wait I’m confused...are you not already a controller? Why are you telling people what to expect if you don’t have any experience with it either? And not just bending over and taking it from internet trolls does not equate to not being able to handle the stresses of a job

Because that advice applies to most specialized fields? I can also do research based on a lot of information/posts mentioned here.

I'm not here to argue with you.
