Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Not really sure if this will be helpful to any of you but spoke to an HR rep, she told me they do not know if more TOLs will be sent out or how many were already sent out. It seemed to me that no more would be sent out but that could just be my pe ception.

I’ll keep telling myself they are going to send more. They probably told you they don’t know so that nobody can say “so and so” told them otherwise after the bid closes out ??

I've given up hope for this bid. No way they open a second bid so soon after the first one if they got enough. Damn, we must have sucked ass lol :(

just realized I input my social wrong on that form how screwed am I?

I sent in my TOL acceptance on the 22nd and realized that I forgot to put my closest FAA facility. I resent the forms the next morning and got a “Thank you” response to both this morning. You should be fine, just be sure to send in the corrected form, obviously.

I called the HR rep listed in my TOL and told her what happened and she was able to fix it on the spot so I'm good to go

I mean they had planned to open a bid in Jan but the shutdown ruined that obviously. It looks they may have just taken people with the really high scores, and will open another bid soon and take people with really high scores from that bid also. That's just a guess, but seems to look that way.

I'm wondering if they'll have to send out more TOLs than they planned initially. No way this shutdown did anything other than hurt their hiring targets/trainee numbers

I emailed my docs from a different personal email, still no acknowledgement yet, should I be worried

Yeah, I don't want to say i've given up hope, but i've just accepted to stay comfortable with where I am. I still like reading and browsing this forum though. A lot of cool people. The way I think of it, i'm only 26 so I have a few years to try.

Good to hear others feel the same way, most the people on here are chill and knowledgeable with the process. I'm 27 so like yourself, this bid isn't the end of the world if nothing happens. Wish I would've started applying earlier but I know I have at least at least 3 more bids before I age out.

Doubtful. The academy is now all jacked up and likely some of those people will simply restart classes. Meaning the academy is more full than it was before the shutdown. FAA doesn't really care about the hiring goals as they've missed it for years in a row

FAA doesn't really care about the hiring goals as they've missed it for years in a row
2018: goal of 1701, actual of 1800+
2017: goal of 1781, actual of 1880
2016: goal of 1619, actual of 1680
2015: goal of 1772, actual of 1345 (increased their goals for 2016-2018 to make up for the shortage)
2014: goal of 1286, actual of 1112 (hiring freeze for 3 months)

They've met their goals, and care a lot about meeting their hiring numbers.

Facts seem like a foreign concept around these parts recently. Thanks for the numbers.

So I received the same "Thank you" email ppl have this morning. I immediately replied with a message asking if they needed me to send in more paperwork, just to see if I would get a response. Got a email back saying they needed nothing else from me at this time and I would be receiving a CIL by 2/28 barring another shutdown.

I had a quick question for all you kind folks.

I had lasik done about a month ago, and my left eye is 20/20 now, the right eye(20/30) is struggling. They claim it’s just dry eyes and it should clear up. My next appointment is the end of March, and they mentioned an enhancement if it didn’t clear up on its own.

How would that work with the medical clearance? Do they test each eye individually or just combined? If they know you’re getting lasik are they lenient to passing with an exception since it’s just going to be the academy at first? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You won't get an FOL if you can't pass the initial entry medical requirements. medical requirements
