Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Thanks for the response, although that link says it can’t display the url for some reason.

Either way, hopefully it’ll all clear up soon, or I’ll have to put off getting the medical till the very end of the cil process. If that’s even possible...

Copy and paste the entire link. I had the same issue and wanted to see other limiting factors so I tried that and it worked.

Just FWIW, someone on here said they (or read about this on Stuckmic, can't remember) called HR the day the wave of TOLs went out, and HR said they were going to send more TOLs and weren't done. Then the shutdown came.

So who knows for sure. That could be a false report, the HR person could have been wrong, or the shutdown could have affected things. But if CILs are going out within a month, I'm pretty confident they're done with TOLs. But just something I wanted to share.

Could be good news, could be bad news. I would think that they’ll probably want to get CILs out to those who have the TOL already and get them processed, then maybe send out another wave and further down, the CILs for them, just that way the following processes won’t be overloaded. Again, my thoughts... I hope and pray daily that we all get picked up though!

Edit: Just looked back too and it looked like last year they had another wave go out roughly a month later and yeah, the CILs were offset. Maybe, just maybe, history will repeat itself ?

That seems to be the conventional wisdom - that however they do things, it's to avoid overwhelming the academy/CIL team/medical team/[insert understaffed dept of choice]

Shot an email to HR to ask about the TOLs and got this response.

At this time all TOLs have been sent out to the selected applicants. However, the referral list will continue to remain open to allow the ATO to make additional selections for this bid, if needed.”

That's pretty much what I figured it would be, given that another bid was scheduled to open so soon. Think I read someone say only around 400 from this bid got TOL's?

Yeah I think a page or two up someone said they had 400 or so TOLs to go through. We’ll see what happens!

Received a thank you email. Did anyone else take their ATSA and have it go down for maintenance during the test? Mine did, but I’m very happy a maintenance break didn’t destroy my chances.

Damn. So they are short by quite of a bit of their hiring target. Either they will send out another wave in a month or two or this bid was historically awful at the ATSA.

Yes, mine had an issue after the first part of the test (the part with the simulations/before the logic/reading questions). I couldn't get to the second part and it took them like 30 minutes to fix it. Wonder if that screwed me over, but if you had a similar issue then probably not.

I’m gonna go with your first and say they’ll send more out ? In the past idk if they’ve ever sent out all offers at one time, I feel like it’s always been waves... plus in my email response they said the bid will stay open for more selections, as needed.

During my test out of the 3 people taking the atsa during that session two of us had the test crash after the first part (about an hour into the test). I thought for sure I was going to be screwed and have my grade thrown out or something but I received a TOL.

But once a new bid starts, don't they update the ones without TOLs as "not referred"? And if the new bid was suppose to be jan 10th, that means they probably planned one wave. I wonder if they got more stringent and only chose 90s, or if this group really did that poorly.

Not to be rude but where did you read that it was January 10th? The Facebook post that I saw with NATCA said January. How do you know that they didn't send 1400 or so TOLs? The person in the thread that mentioned earlier that his POC was shifting through 400+ TOLs, could just mean that his POC, is personally handling 400 of them but other POCs could be handling the rest.

Not sure how they’ve decided who to send the TOL’s to, but I personally decided to use my passing score from 2017 for this bid even though I did not get picked up for the original bid I had taken the ATSA for and I did receive a TOL on 12/21. I’m wondering if maybe they altered the test from 2017-2018 so my score beat out the new average and I got lucky.
