Hiring Bid Experienced Bid: FAA-ATO-19-ATCEXP-60073

For people keeping count, my status was changed to referred on aviator, but USAJOBS still shows received. Prior exp military, and 4 years certified in the agency.

Why not just apply directly to your facility of choice via direct hire?
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I don't remember this ever being an option before. Are there any stipulations or, is it 100% up to management at the facility whether or not they wish to hire you.

I have been told for years that this option was taken away from Management some time ago. It used to be that facility managers had the power to interview and hire potential candidates cleared by HR. Now, everyone has to go through the process. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Good to see some status changes. Hopefully things start getting moving. Would be nice to start seeing some TOLs getting sent out.

You can browse the thread someone else posted or go to FAA.gov>jobs>cpc reinstatements for the full requirements. Biggest thing is separation length. It states 6 months or more and you can apply to any facility. The ATO(s) came out with their own SOP saying you have to be separated for at least 12 months. I can confirm 1 year is what they’re using. Don’t know how long you’ve been out for but if it’s at least 12 months and a day, you can literally submit your package to any facility’s ATM tomorrow ... as long as they want to hire you.

So when you say your bid changed to “referred” on the aviator what do you mean? Do you mean it went from “a referral list was issued yours is among those being reviewed” to “you have been referred” or something along those lines?

Basically yes. You have met the job requirements and have moved onto the pool of applicants eligible to receive a TOL. Not everyone that gets referred gets a TOL. I applied to a bid on 2016 and got referred... but my status never changed from that. In fact I think it still says referred. Fast-forward to the 2018 bid and I got a TOL with basically the same application. ?‍♂️

You received a TOL from this bid?

Did it have to do with how far away you were from separation from the military?

Judging from timelines of previous bids and what people were saying...

example:

3/20- Applied
4/18- Referred
6/8- TOL received
6/12- TOL confirmation
6/29- CIL
6/29- E-QIP
7/13- MMPI-2
7/20- Medical
7/23- Drug Test
8/9- 100% Cleared
9/12- List received
9/18- Facility Assignment
9/20- FOL Received
10/28- Start date (KMSN)

I would say April.

So do you need to be within the 120 days of separation when you apply for the bid or when TOLs come out if you’re military? Because I’m now within 120 days of separation but I wasn’t when I applied for the bid.

"Entrance on Duty Requirements (EOD): If you are unable to complete all of the pre-employment requirements within 90 days from the date of the Clearance Instruction Letter (CIL), the FAA may rescind your tentative job offer for this vacancy. If you are a current military member in active duty service, you must submit a copy of your DD Form-214, or written documentation (certification) from your branch of service certifying that you are expected to be discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions no later than 120 days after the date the certification is signed. FWIW, I applied to the prior experience bid that happened in March 2018 and didn’t separate until November 2018 and never got a TOL. But I have heard of others getting TOLs more than 120 days out. Guess i didn’t get lucky..
