Hiring Bid Experienced Bid: FAA-ATO-19-ATCEXP-60073

Damn, where in LA did they send you? Luckily they sent me to one in Brea, so it’ll be in the opposite direction. My medical exam is in Glendora. So both are within 30ish minutes for me.

I’m in Ventura. My medical is in Santa Barbara and I have to pee pee in a cup that morning in Gardena, I guess.

I got lucky. Only an hour drive for my medical and they had a drug place in my town.

wow I got lucky I guess. 1 hour drive for medical appointment and drug test was in my hometown
4 hours round trip medical
2 hours round trip drug test
We all in this

This drug test with EMSI is bullshit. They apparently have one location in the LA area? I have to spend more or less two hours in a car, fighting traffic, to piss in a cup only to drive two hours north to have my balls checked by a doctor for the FAA? Monday’s gonna suck.
Apparently EMSI doesn't have any locations in my state so they contract with Concentra, and they told me I had to go to this Concentra an hour out of my way. I asked about the Concenta literally on my way to work, which I'd previously used for a pre-federal-employment drug test—they said no can do. I go to the Concentra an hour away and the people there are incredulous that I couldn't get it done at the other one. Woo-hoo!

I'm not in this bid but just want to give you a fair warning. EMSI also scheduled my drug test in Gardena. I showed up there and they said they were unable to do FAA drug tests. Had to call EMSI and they rescheduled me for the same day and sent me to Brea.

Thanks, man. I’ll give them a call... I really don’t wanna drive all the way to Orange County for this.

Got an email back from Medical POC, you can schedule the drug test a head of time, but not later than 5 days of your medical exam.

Edit: Gave EMSI a call at their Gardena location and are able to accept FAA pre-employment drug screenings.

Did anybody do the drug test before their exam? I know the email says prior, but I literally can’t pull off medical and then the test. I’m planning on doing the drug test and then immediately driving to my medical appointment.
Yes, I did. Medical said it wasn’t an issue at all. As long as you don’t take it after the 5 days.

Did my drug test while I was in the dfw area. Have to drive 2 hours to my medical appt at 530am. All done today and start the waiting game.

I know a few people who have gone through previous prior experience bids that got their list. They're not looking so hot (in my opinion)
Yeah, they got a good size list, not really any facilities I’d be dying to go to. But like everyone says “just gotta get your foot in the door”, make sure that door has good manning and you can leave within a few years if you hate it.

From this bid ?
Yup! Someone asked in the comments of his list and the OP confirmed. Crazy..

They must have had some things done from a previous bid or something. That’s stupid fast.

I talked to that guy who posted his list. He had a background check already open that the FAA used. He had some decent locations. I talked to my HR person today and she has received my security clearance and is waiting on getting my medical/MMPI/drug test clearances.
